Abstract: A unified frame structure design includes multiple structures to support multiple access requirements. In some aspects, traffic communicated according to one structure may puncture traffic communicated according to another structure. In some aspects, an indication of the puncturing may be communicated. In some aspects, communication based on the unified frame structure may use a code block-level acknowledgement. In some aspects, different access requirements may relate to different access terminal categories and/or different applications. In some aspects, different access terminal categories may relate to different performance requirements of different access terminals. In some aspects, the disclosed unified frame structure design could support, for example, and without limitation, at least one of: a low latency mode, a low overhead mode, a low power mode (e.g., for micro-sleep and/or dynamic bandwidth switching), an access terminal with narrowband capability operating in wideband, or ultra-low-latency and nominal multiplexing.

Abstract: A system and method for low latency acknowledgements includes a first communication unit receiving a data message from a second communication unit on a data channel, decoding the data message, and transmitting, in response to the decoding, an acknowledgement signal on a control channel to the second communication unit. The acknowledgement signal has a partially decodable structure. Transmitting the acknowledgement signal further includes transmitting multiple repetitions of a same time domain waveform during one symbol period. In some embodiments, transmitting the acknowledgement signal further transmitting K repetitions of a same time domain waveform with a frequency domain characteristic consisting of one non-zero tone for every K tones, K being a positive integer. In some embodiments, the acknowledgement signal is processable by the second communication unit using a first N out of the K repetitions, N being a positive integer less than K.

The method includes selecting one or more resources for transmitting data of a first data stream based on an acyclic graph. The selected resources conform to the acyclic graph comprising data streams at odd levels of the acyclic graph and resources at even levels of the acyclic graph. The acyclic graph includes edges between each level of the acyclic graph. The edges connect the resources allocated to each data stream. Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques and apparatus for increasing decoding performance and/or reducing decoding complexity. A transmitter may divide data of a codeword into two or more sections and then calculate redundancy check information (e.g., a cyclic redundancy check or a parity check) for each section and attach the redundancy check information to the codeword. A decoder of a receiver may decode each section of the codeword and check the decoding against the corresponding redundancy check information. If decoding of a section fails, the decoder may use information regarding section(s) that the decoder successfully decoded in re-attempting to decode the section(s) that failed decoding. In addition, the decoder may use a different technique to decode the section(s) that failed decoding. If the decoder is still unsuccessful in decoding the section(s), then the receiver may request retransmission of the failed section(s) or of the entire codeword.
