    摘要: A steerable earth boring assembly which includes an annular collar and a drive shaft with a drill bit, where the shaft pivots with respect to the collar. An upper portion of the shaft inserts into an orientation sleeve which resides in the collar. An axial bore is obliquely formed through the sleeve, and in which the upper portion inserts. Rotating the sleeve causes precession of the upper portion, thereby pivoting the drill bit obliquely to the collar. Selective rotation of the sleeve orients the drill bit into a designated orientation for forming a deviated wellbore. Included in the assembly is a flow tube with an end in sealing contact with the drive shaft.

    摘要: A directional drilling steering system is configured to direct a tubular sleeve arranged at the bottom of a drill string adjacent the drill bit at a selected tilt angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the uphole drill string and at a selected azimuth. Tilt angle can be achieved by axial movement of one or more pistons in engagement with the downhole tubular sleeve. Azimuth can be achieved by axial movement of the pistons or by rotation of the drill string. The movement of the downhole sleeve along the deviated path causes movement of the drill bit shaft and the drill bit coupled thereto.

    摘要: Present embodiments are directed to a bearing assembly for a downhole motor. The bearing assembly includes a housing and a drive shaft designed to rotate with respect to the housing. The bearing assembly also includes stackable thrust bearings, each pre-loaded via a corresponding spring component. Some thrust bearings are arranged such that their spring components distribute axial loads from the housing in a first direction to the thrust bearings. Other thrust bearings are arranged such that their spring components distribute axial loads from the drive shaft in the first direction to the thrust bearings. Thus, the bearing assembly may be tailored via the stackable bearings to distribute axial thrust forces on the downhole motor evenly across the different thrust bearings. The bearing section may include a machinable spacer used to provide a double shouldered connection between the drive shaft and a drive shaft cap used to compress the stackable bearings.

    摘要: An electrical submersible pump assembly includes a centrifugal pump having impellers and diffusers. A thrust runner is coupled to a motor shaft for rotation along with the impellers. The runner receives thrust from at least one of the impellers and transfers the thrust to a bushing non rotatably mounted in one of the diffusers. The bushing has a thrust transferring end adjacent a thrust receiving shoulder in the diffuser. The bushing is axially movable in the receptacle. An annular spring located between the thrust receiving shoulder in the receptacle and the thrust transferring end of the bushing urges the bushing away from the thrust receiving shoulder.
