    Abstract: Provided is a downhole tool, a well system and a method. The downhole tool, in one aspect, includes a first member, the first member having a first member inside diameter (ID1), a first member outside diameter (OD1), and a first member hardness value (HV1), and a second member, the second member having a second member inside diameter (ID2), a second member outside diameter (OD2), and a second member hardness value (HV2), the first and second members positioned proximate one another forming an overlapping space therebetween. The downhole tool according to this aspect, further includes a crack compliant seal positioned at the overlapping space and having a compliant seal hardness value (HVcs) less than or equal to one or more of the (HV1) or (HV2) and a high yield strength weld positioned at the overlapping space, the high yield strength weld having a yield strength of at least 50 ksi.

    Abstract: An assembled sucker rod includes a rod body with a rod end and an endpiece containing a receptacle at the rod end. An adhesive is set between the receptacle and rod end, and an insert is positioned through the endpiece's side, contacting the rod end, and resisting compressive loads. The endpiece has apertures for the insert, which has ends and an intermediate portion; the latter contacts the rod end compressively, while the ends contact the endpiece oppositely. The rod end may feature a hole or slot for the insert, or its distal portion may directly abut the insert.

    Abstract: A contraction joint includes an upper tubular member, an upper mandrel, a lower mandrel, a nipple housing connected to the upper tubular member, a support sleeve disposed around the upper mandrel, an activation dog disposed within the support sleeve, a lock housing disposed in an annular space between the nipple housing and the mandrel, the lock housing connecting the upper mandrel to the lower mandrel, and a stroke locking mechanism disposed within the lock housing. In the locked position, the lock housing is affixed to the support sleeve with a shear mechanism, the stroke locking mechanism is supported by the support sleeve, and a stroke locking mechanism profile and an activation profile of the activation dog prevent the nipple housing from moving.

    Abstract: A drive shaft assembly for a downhole drilling motor includes a drive shaft having a first end portion engaging a first housing and a second end portion engaging a second housing. The first end portion and the first housing form the first constant velocity joint and the second end portion and the second housing form the second constant velocity joint of the drive shaft assembly. Each end portion including a base surface having a pair of prongs extending away from the base surface and a cylindrical side wall having a plurality of ball bearings held in a plurality of circumferentially spaced pockets. Each housing includes a cavity to retain respective end portions of the drive shaft. An inner side wall of each housing includes a plurality of cylindrical grooves to receive the plurality of ball bearings to transfer torque. An internal wall of the housing includes a first chamber and a second chamber to receive and retain the first prong and the second prong to transfer torque and thrust loads between the shaft and the housings.

    Abstract: An anti-vibration mount has a base with a cavity. A core extends through the cavity and is coupled at its lower end to the base. A connector is threaded to the core and couples a part subject to vibration to the mount. The base cavity and the core define a receptacle extending around the core. A lower portion of the receptacle is substantially filled with lead. A bushing is carried in the upper portion of the receptacle around the core and bears on the lead. The upper surface of the bushing is elevated above the top surface of the base and bears the load of the part. A resilient body is carried around the connecter and, when the part is coupled to the mount, between the part and a connector head.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to elevator locking system apparatus and methods, and associated components thereof. In one implementation, a slip-type elevator assembly includes an elevator body including one or more slips configured to grip a tubular, and a first door pivotably coupled to the elevator body. The slip-type elevator assembly includes a second door pivotably coupled to the elevator body, the first door and the second door movable between an open position and a closed position. The slip-type elevator assembly also includes a locking system including a bolt movable between an unlocked position and a locked position. In the unlocked position the bolt is disposed in a first cavity formed in the first door. In the locked position a first portion of the bolt is disposed in the first cavity and a second portion of the bolt is disposed outside of the first cavity.
