Abstract:
A method of forming a post sleeve within a post hole in the ground to include a post receiving cavity to insertably receive and support a post is provided. The method includes positioning a post sleeve core within the post hole with the aid of an elongate installation member and depositing uncured material into the post hole to at least partially surround the post sleeve core while the post sleeve core is attached to the elongate installation member. The method further includes allowing the uncured material to harden around the post sleeve core to form at least a portion of the post-receiving cavity of the post sleeve and removing the post sleeve core from the hardened material to expose the post receiving cavity to receive and support the post. Other related methods of forming post sleeves are also provided.
Abstract:
A bollard apparatus for use as a vehicle barrier including one or more bollard members, and one or more separate foot members each adapted for ground engagement by placement upon (or shallow-mount embedment within) a ground or floor surface. To each of the foot members is fixed at least one bollard member upstanding therefrom. At least one collar member is positioned within a respective through-opening in a respective foot member wherein the collar member is fixed to the base end of a bollard member and circumscribes the bollard member thereat. The collar member is upstanding from the surface of foot member from which the bollard number is also upstanding.
Abstract:
A mounting assembly is disclosed for use with a removable bollard, wherein the mounting assembly includes a base plate and a pair of collapsible plates hingedly connected to opposing edges of the base plate, wherein each of the collapsible plates includes at least one aperture formed therein, the at least one aperture receiving a retaining element configured to secure the removable bollard to the mounting assembly. When the removable bollard is removed from the mounting assembly, the collapsible plates are pivoted to be positioned in substantially the same plane as the base plate, such that pedestrians or vehicles may pass freely over the mounting assembly without unnecessary disturbance.
Abstract:
A screw-in foundation anchor for traffic, lighting and utility poles and the like. The anchor comprises a shaft with an upper end fixed to a base plate on which the pole base is attachable. A helical blade on the shaft allows the anchor to be driven into the earth by rotation. At least two notches are provided on the edges of the base plate, each notch sized to engage the shaft of an adjacent anchor. Multiple anchors can be strapped together in groups or bundles for storage and shipment, with the notches engaging adjacent anchor. Such an arrangement prevents dislodgement or shifting of the anchors in transit. This reduces the cost of shipping the anchors, decreases the likelihood of damage to the anchors during shipment, and improves the safety of handling the bundles and unloading the individual anchors.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device for the anchoring in rigid ground such as decks or floors made of concrete, asphalt, rock etc., for support posts for safety barriers and parapets, by means of bolts partly embedded in the ground and fixed to same by chemical or mechanical means, whose emergent part successively traverses the anchor plate of the post of the barrier, one or more washers and closure nuts which are what fix the bolt to the anchor plate. The washers present the capacity to behave as fusible elements which, in the event of a vertical load due to traction greater than a defined value, are deformed and traversed by the closure nut which, once released from the washer, traverses the corresponding hole of the anchor plate, which is of a size greater than that of the closure nut, with the union between the plate and bolt thus becoming decoupled.
Abstract:
A lighted bollard system that has significantly enhanced internal structural strength while providing for the replacement of the outer bollard cover and that allows users to select from a plurality of different lighting fixtures suited for different applications.
Abstract:
Anti-ram systems according to embodiments of the invention comprise at least one bollard section comprising a base of limited height and a plurality of spaced bollards extending upwardly from the base. An anti-ram system according to embodiments of the invention may be erected or installed on a paved surface such as asphalt, concrete, paver stones, etc., or on an unpaved surface such as soil, and need not be partially of fully buried, and yet can qualify for Department of State crash ratings previously assigned to buried bollard systems. Disclosed anti-ram system also comprise a plurality of bollard sections and one or more connectors for interconnecting two or more of the bollard sections, and may also include an anchor or anchor system engaging at least each end of a bollard section not connected to another bollard section. The bollard sections may be filled with ballast and high friction structure may be attached to the bottom of the bollard sections to resist sliding after impact.
Abstract:
A post anchor/anchor adapter system is unitary cast or machined steel or the like. An anchor/adaptor alone is driven alone into a hole cut in in-place concrete. The system includes an anchor extension tube for driving into soft soil. The inventive anchor/adaptor has a body in the form of an elongate square tube having radius-curved corners vertically driven into a round receiving hole, forming creases and a secure anchor. The tube has an upper female portion for a post and a lower female portion for an extender and is divided by a horizontal plug wall integral with the tube structure. The lower female portion of the anchor/adapter tapers outward towards its lower open end allowing for an interference fit with the driven tube acting as an anchor. The female portion upper end has crescent-shaped tabs defining a disk sized to plug the drilled hole.
Abstract:
An anti-ram bollard assembly (1) and an installation of the same to arrest impacts are provided. The bollard assembly includes a base assembly (20), a bollard member (10) attached to the base assembly and at least one reinforcement member (32) attached to the base assembly. The base assembly may include an I-beam arrangement to provide increased strength of the base assembly. Several bollard assemblies may be connected to form a cohesive installation to achieve a high impact rating. To this purpose, rebars (104) may be provided to connect the base assemblies of adjacent bollard assemblies. Further, the bollard member may be provided as a hollow member and may be subsequently filled with a high-strength material to prevent failure of the bollard member when it is being struck.
Abstract:
A pole anchor footing system for effectively supporting a post structure within a ground surface. The pole anchor footing system includes a resilient body having a neck portion and a base portion, and an elongate member extending into the body from an upper end of the body. The body is securely positionable within a ground surface. The neck portion receives a coupler that mechanically connects a post to the body. The base portion has an upwardly tapered structure with the lower end having a broad structure. A plurality of engaging members may extend outwardly from the body for providing additional gripping while positioned within the ground surface.
