Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to pole caps and pole protection systems, and more specifically to pole caps and pole protection systems for use in relation to utility poles. In an embodiment an pole cap is provided. The pole cap includes a body having a peripheral edge and a central portion. The pole cap further includes a plurality of slits in the body, the plurality of slits extending from the peripheral edge and toward the central portion of the body, the body comprising a multilayer structure, the multilayer structure comprising: a polymer layer having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, the second surface for facing the end of the pole; disposed over the first surface of the polymer layer; and a fire resistant composition disposed over the rubber containing layer.

Abstract: A pole cover assembly for covering a pole including first sleeves or base sleeves, second sleeves or middle sleeves, and third sleeves or top sleeves or top cap. The pole cover assembly may also contain additional spacer sleeves. The pole cover assembly includes first sleeves, the second sleeves, and the third sleeves which come in front and rear semi-cylindrical tubes that snap together via inconspicuous tabs. Further, each of the first sleeves, the second sleeves, and the third sleeves include a series of disks that accommodate most type of poles i.e., square, round, and U-channel poles. The pole cover assembly acts as a cover for the poles and can snap around almost all types and sizes of poles. The pole cover assembly beautifies and brings visibility to any pole.

Abstract: A system and method are used for transporting a plurality of tower sections of a wind turbine on beds of transport devices, such as flat railcars. Supports affix at support locations on beds to accommodate at least one of the tower sections on each of the transport devices. The supports can include bed supports, such as tabs, extending from the beds, and can include cradle supports with slots that engage on the tabs. A circumferential dimension of a cradle is adjusted on each of the supports against which the tower section rests. Each of the tower sections is then supported with at least two of the supports by loading the tower sections on the transport devices. An end of each of the tower sections is then affixed to a flange on at least one of the supports on each of the transport devices.

Abstract: Pneumatically supported towers for low gravity applications are disclosed herein. In one aspect, an inflatable tower for use in vacuum environments can have a membrane configured to support a load when inflated with an inflation gas to a pressures less than 100,000 pascals and greater than 0.01 pascal. The inflation gas can be chosen to have a sufficiently low boiling temperature at the inflation pressure of the membrane that the gas will not condense to a liquid or solid within a defined range of temperatures in which the tower is designed to operate. The membrane can be configured to be packaged for transport in deflated condition and rolled onto cylinders from which the membrane can be later unfurled and inflated as part of the tower inflation process. The membrane can be further configured to progressively inflate beginning at a bottom or lowest level of the membrane during the tower inflation process. The membrane can be divided into a plurality of compartments by one or more diaphragms containing valves configured to regulate flow of the inflation gas between the compartments.

Abstract: A vertical escape structure comprises an escape housing disposed in a vertical orientation and mounted to a ground to maintain structural integrity in the vertical orientation against external flooding. The escape housing includes an interior which is sealed against water entry from exterior flooding and at least one of a staircase, a ladder, an elevator, or a lift disposed in the interior of the escape housing. The vertical escape structure further comprises a connecting walkway to connect the escape housing to a building. The escape housing has a smaller horizontal footprint than the building. The walkway is severable from the building by force without damaging the escape housing to cause water entry from the exterior flooding.
