摘要: A system and method for repairing a metal substrate includes an electrospark device and an electrode removably supported in the electrode holder. The electrospark device applies a coating of a material when placed into contact with the metal substrate. A cooling device to lowers the temperature of shielding gas flow below an ambient temperature. A conduit is arranged to direct a flow of the shielding gas to the interface of the electrode and the substrate to cool the area of the substrate receiving the coating.

摘要: An electric arc torch includes a torch base, and a cooling conduit having a conduit wall forming a central axial bore and having a plurality of longitudinal cooling channels spaced circumferentially around the bore. The cooling channels extend through the conduit wall from a first end portion to a second end portion of the conduit. The cooling channels include both a plurality of cooling liquid distribution channels and a plurality of cooling liquid return channels alternately arranged within the conduit wall. The conduit includes a circumferential cooling liquid manifold in fluid communication with each of the cooling liquid distribution channels, a circumferential return manifold in fluid communication with each of the cooling liquid return channels, and a circumferential recirculation manifold in fluid communication with each of the cooling liquid distribution and return channels such that the cooling liquid distribution and return channels are in fluid communication through the circumferential recirculation manifold.

摘要: An apparatus and related method for cooling a hard metal applied in a molten or semi-molten state to the surface of a metal substrate employ a chill block chilled by a cryogenic coolant conducted through a coolant passage in the chill block with at least one ejector port in communication with the coolant passage arranged to eject cryogenic coolant from the chill block onto the hand metal for further cooling the hard metal. An alloy steel substrate preheated to 300 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit has a hard metal applied thereto by an arc welding process.

The first end includes an annular portion disposed proximate a torch tip. A liquid passage is formed within the body, is shaped to convey a liquid therethrough, and has a first set of ports formed in the annular portion. A gas passage is formed within the body, is shaped to convey a gas therethrough, and includes a second set of ports formed in the annular portion. The annular portion is configured such that subsets of ports in the first set of ports direct the liquid in a radial direction with respect to the longitudinal axis and alternate, in a rotational direction about the longitudinal axis, with subsets of ports in the second set of ports.

摘要: A method of repairing a component having a metal part adhesively bonded to a composite body includes thermally coupling a heatsink to the metal part adjacent to a repair region of the metal part which is to be repaired; and performing a metal deposition process on the metal part in the repair region. During the metal deposition process the heatsink acts to transfer thermal energy away from the metal part caused by the metal deposition process. Equipment repairs a component having a metal part adhesively bonded to a composite body.

摘要: A steam reflow apparatus includes a heating furnace including a preheating zone, a uniform heating zone, a melting zone and a cooling zone to which superheated steams are respectively supplied. The apparatus further includes a furnace-inlet-side dew condensation prevention zone and a furnace-outlet-side dew condensation prevention zone, to which air or nitrogen gas with 100° C. or higher heated by a heater is supplied, respectively adjacently provided with an upstream side of the preheating zone and a downstream side of the cooling zone. Atmospheric pressures of the furnace-inlet-side dew condensation prevention zone and the furnace-outlet-side dew condensation prevention zone are higher than atmospheric pressures of the preheating zone and the cooling zone.

摘要: In certain embodiments, inductive heating is added to a metal working process, such as a welding process, by an induction heating head. The induction heating head may be adapted specifically for this purpose, and may include one or more coils to direct and place the inductive energy, protective structures, and so forth. Productivity of a welding process may be improved by the application of heat from the induction heating head. The heating is in addition to heat from a welding arc, and may facilitate application of welding wire electrode materials into narrow grooves and gaps, as well as make the processes more amenable to the use of certain compositions of welding wire, shielding gasses, flux materials, and so forth. In addition, distortion and stresses are reduced by the application of the induction heating energy in addition to the welding arc source.

摘要: A method of forming a steel part is provided. The method includes the steps of coating a first steel plate to obtain a first precoat upon the first steel plate so as to define a first base, a first intermetallic alloy layer on the first base and a first metal alloy layer on the first intermetallic alloy layer. On a first face of the first steel plate the first metal alloy layer is removed in a first area of the first steel plate, while at least part of the first intermetallic alloy layer in the first area remains. A second steel plate is coated to obtain a second precoat upon the second steel plate so as to define a second base, a second intermetallic alloy layer on the second base and a second metal alloy layer on the second intermetallic alloy layer. On a second face of the second steel plate, the second metal alloy layer is removed in a second area of the second metal plate, while at least part of the second intermetallic alloy layer in the second area remains. After removal of the first and second metal alloy layers, the first steel plate is butt-welded to the second steel plate at the first and second areas to form a welded blank. A heat treatment is performed on the welded blank. The welded blank is shaped after the heat treatment into the steel part. A steel part is also provided.
