Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe managing beams in wireless communications. A beam management event configuration indicating a type of at least one beam to measure in determining occurrence of a trigger condition for a beam management event can be received. A parameter of a signal received from one or more nodes can be measured, where the signal corresponds to the type of the at least one beam. The occurrence of the trigger condition for the beam management event can be determined based on the parameter of the signal. An indication of the occurrence of the trigger condition can be reported to the one or more nodes or a different node.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described techniques provide for the identification of a sequence of beamforming parameters that are used for communications between a user equipment (UE) and a base station using a sequence of transmission beams. A UE may measure received reference signals that are transmitted in a series of downlink transmission beams from a base station, and report measurement parameters associated with the downlink transmission beams to the base station as part of a beam tracking and beam refinement procedure. The base station may provide transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states that are associated with each transmission beam. The TCI states may be recorded over a course of a periodic movement of the UE, and may be used deterministically to identify beamforming parameters for transmission and reception of a subsequent series of downlink transmission beams when the UE makes a subsequent same periodic movement.

An exemplary method generally includes selecting, from a set of code rates, a code rate to be used to encode a stream of bits using a polar code, based on at least one of a downlink control channel aggregation size, an uplink control channel assignment, or a payload size of the stream of bits, encoding the stream of bits using the polar code and the selected code rate, and transmitting the encoded stream of bits.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to reusing long-term evolution (LTE) resources for new radio (NR) system operations are provided. A UE receives, from a base station, a reference signal configuration of a first network of a long-term evolution (LTE) radio access technology (RAT). The UE and the base station are associated with a second network of another RAT. The reference signal configuration indicates at least a number of antenna ports associated with a reference signal of the first network. The UE determines a location of the reference signal associated with the reference signal configuration and receives, from the base station, a data signal of the second network based at least on the location of the reference signal of the first network.

Abstract: A user equipment apparatus determines whether a transmission is received from a base station within a time window and skips measurement of a reference signal during a subsequent period, when a transmission is received from the base station within the time window. A base station apparatus configures a UE to monitor one or more reference signals associated with a beam pair link and transmits a first signal in a transmission to the UE. The base station determines whether the transmission is received at the UE within a time window and determines whether to transmit a reference signal, based on whether the transmission is received at the UE within the time window. Upon determining that the transmission was received at the UE, the base station may skip transmission of the reference signal or modify a time, a frequency, a power, and/or a reference signal offset for the reference signal.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for using beam sets for mobility management. A BS serving the UE may transmit, to the UE, information regarding one or more beam sets, wherein each of the beam sets comprise one or more reference beams used to transmit a reference signal. The BS may transmit, to the UE, one or more mobility parameters, wherein the mobility parameters are associated with the reference beams and one or more mobility event triggers. The BS may receive, from the UE, an indication of a detected mobility event, the mobility event is detected based, at least in part, on the mobility parameters. The BS may take one or more actions based, at least in part, on the indication. A UE may perform corresponding steps as described herein.
