Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to synchronization signal (SS) transmission coordination among base stations (BSs) and restricted SS measurements at user equipments (UEs) are provided. A first BS transmits a first SS burst in a first SS transmission period of a plurality of SS transmission periods. The first SS transmission period is designated to the first BS. A second SS transmission period of the plurality of SS transmission periods is designated to a second BS. The first SS transmission period and the second SS transmission period are different. The first BS receives, from a UE, a first signal in synchronization with the first SS burst. The first signal includes a SS measurement of the first SS burst.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some wireless communications systems, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to transition to communicating on a first bandwidth part from communicating on a second bandwidth part. In order to ensure that the UE is able to perform receiver processing for demodulating data received on the first bandwidth part, after transitioning to communicating on the first bandwidth part, the UE may be configured to perform receiver processing using reference signals received on the second bandwidth part. That is, for a configured period of time, before the UE is able to perform receiver processing for demodulating data received on the first bandwidth part using reference signals received on the first bandwidth part, the UE may perform receiver processing for demodulating data received on the first bandwidth part using reference signals received on the second bandwidth part.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a UE may measure a first reference signal, associated with a frequency band of a long term evolution (LTE) system, and a second reference signal associated with a frequency band of a new radio (NR) system. The frequency band of the NR system may overlap the frequency band of the LTE system. The UE may determine first channel state feedback, associated with the frequency band of the LTE system, and second channel state feedback, associated with the frequency band of the NR system, based at least in part on the first reference signal and the second reference signal, respectively. The UE may report the first channel state feedback or the second channel state feedback in uplink control information (UCI). Other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Various techniques are proposed to enhance or expand the capabilities or usage of buffer status request (BSR) and scheduling request (SR) in new radio (NR) applications. In an implementation, techniques are proposed to extend the SR in long term evolution (LTE) baseline with additional information to help a base station (e.g., gNB) schedule faster and more efficiently. Moreover, a new BSR triggering condition is proposed to report new data based on particular events instead of being time-based. Modifications being proposed to both BSR and SR can be customized for different numerologies/transmission time intervals (TTIs). Modifications being proposed to SR can also be used to indicate a user equipment (UE) new beam selection after recovering from a beam failure.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Uplink random access channel (RACH) transmissions may be sent on multiple beams by a user equipment (UE). For example, a UE may transmit a random access preamble to a base station in a first RACH transmission, and the base station may respond with a random access response in a second RACH transmission. The second RACH transmission may include an indication for the UE to use multiple transmit beams for a third RACH transmission. Using the indication received from the base station, the UE may proceed to use the indicated two or more beams when sending the third RACH transmission to the base station. Upon receiving the third RACH transmission from the UE, the base station may respond with a fourth RACH transmission, which may further include an indication to the UE to transmit an acknowledgment using one or more beams.

Abstract: A grant may allocate resources for an uplink transmission by a user equipment (UE) in a system using beamforming, where the resources may be used by the UE to transmit data or control information during a time that a base station is listening in a certain receive beam direction. A UE may be in communication with a base station using beamformed transmissions, and the base station may send a resource grant to the UE for uplink transmissions that correspond to a receive beam direction of a beamsweeping operation. The UE may then transmit data and/or uplink control information to the base station according to the resource grant and when the base station is listening in the corresponding direction. In some examples, the UE may send the uplink transmission to the serving base station, and transmit a random access channel to another base station based on the beamsweeping operation.
