Abstract: Techniques for wireless communication are described. A method of wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a synchronization signal within a synchronization signal (SS) block; receiving at least a portion of a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) of the SS block, the PBCH comprising a self-decodable portion and an outside portion; and decoding the PBCH based at least in part on receiving the self-decodable portion of the PBCH. The synchronization signal has a first bandwidth. The self-decodable portion of the PBCH has a second bandwidth substantially within the first bandwidth. The outside portion having a bandwidth that is outside of the second bandwidth and within a PBCH bandwidth, the PBCH bandwidth being greater than the first bandwidth.

Abstract: The present disclosure may support dedicated scheduling request resources in a NPUSCH format resource structure, a NPRACH, and/or an ACK/NACK transmission associated with a downlink transmission received at the UE. In addition, the present disclosure may provide various techniques to mitigate collisions between scheduling requests transmitted by a UE, uplink transmissions sent by different UEs, and/or downlink transmissions sent by a base station. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may receive one or more downlink transmissions from a base station. The apparatus may determine to transmit an uplink transmission to the base station. The apparatus transmit, to the base station, a scheduling request for the uplink transmission with an ACK/NACK associated with the one or more downlink transmissions using a narrowband NPUSCH format resource structure.

Abstract: A method, computer-readable medium, and apparatus are provided. The apparatus may determine a first set of subframes in the narrowband TDD frame structure used for transmitting a downlink control channel to a UE. In one aspect, a last subframe in the first set of subframes may be subframe n. Further, the apparatus may determine a second set of subframes in the narrowband TDD frame structure used for transmitting a downlink data channel to the UE. In certain aspects, a first subframe in the second set of subframes may be delayed based on k0 number of subframes after the subframe n. In certain other aspects, a last subframe in the second set of subframes may be subframe n+k0+x. Additionally, the apparatus may signal first information associated with the k0 number of subframes to the UE in a first delay field in a DCI transmission.

Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to managing the transmission of uplink beams. For example, a first apparatus may generate a signal for transmission to a second apparatus. Thereafter, the first apparatus may detect a condition associated with transmitting the signal via a first uplink beam at a first transmission power. The condition may include the first uplink beam exceeding a maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limit. Accordingly, the first apparatus may refrain from transmitting the signal via the first uplink beam based on the at least one condition and transmit the signal to the second apparatus using a second uplink beam different from the first uplink beam.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Wireless communications systems may support beamformed transmissions between devices (e.g., to improve coverage range). The beamformed transmissions may depend on discovery and maintenance of receive and transmit beams over which a given device may communicate with another device. Various receive and transmit beams for a given device may be compared using reference signals. As the number of devices attempting to access a cell increases, the number of reference signals to be transmitted may scale proportionally. Large numbers of reference signals may flood time-frequency resources of the system and/or require excessive processing at a mobile device. Scrambling sequences for reference signals may be employed to improve efficiency of resource usage. In aspects, the scrambling sequences may be implicitly determined (e.g., based on resources over which the access request was transmitted). Such an implicit association may reduce the need for additional signaling.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that support discontinuous scheduling. A base station may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a grant of resources of a communication channel over a multiple of aggregated TTIs. The UE may monitor a control channel for the grant of resources transmitted by base station. The base station and the UE may identify a location of an excluded TTI within the plurality of aggregated TTIs. The excluded TTI may correspond to a TTI for communicating synchronization signals, random access channel (RACH) signals, or the like. The base station may communicate with the UE via the resources of the communication channel over at least a subset of the aggregated TTIs based on the grant and the location of the excluded TTI.

Abstract: There is a need to support narrowband TDD frame structure for narrowband communications. The present disclosure provides a solution by supporting one or more narrowband TDD frame structure(s) for narrowband communications. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may determine a narrowband communication frame structure comprising a FDD mode or a TDD mode and a particular TDD frame structure for narrowband communications from a group of narrowband TDD frame structures. The apparatus may determine a periodicity, subframe number, and transmission sequence associated with a SSS based at least in part on the narrowband TDD frame structure. The apparatus may transmit the SSS using the narrowband TDD frame structure determined for the narrowband communications. In one aspect, the SSS may be transmitted in a same subframe within a frame and at a periodicity of 2 or more frames.

Abstract: A base station may make more efficient use of resources by transmitting data in a control region of a slot in addition to a data region. In order to avoid performance loss, the base station may adjust the data transmission in the control region in comparison to a data transmission in a data region and may signal an indication to a UE to assist the UE in receiving the data transmission in the control region. An apparatus for wireless communication at the UE receives the indication from the base station regarding the data transmission in the control region and uses the indication to perform rate matching or demodulation of the data transmission in the control region. The indication may indicate any of a different MCS/rank/TPR, a reduced MCS/rank/TPR, an MCS/rank/TPR delta, a control span for a group of UEs, and a starting symbol for the data transmission. The indication may also indicate that there is no data transmitted on resources in the control region.
