Abstract:
An IP telephony system allows a calling party to provide a message that is played to the called party before the called party is connected to the calling party. The message can provide information about the call that helps the called party decide whether to answer the call. In some instances, information provided by the calling party can be used by the IP telephony system to automatically determine how to the handle the call.
Abstract:
Described herein is a retrofit digital speaker system comprising two or more retrofitted speaker enclosures, each of the two or more retrofitted speaker enclosures (enclosures) comprising: at least one speaker; and an analog-and-digital interface adapted to receive digitally encoded audio signals, electrical power, and digital command signals, and wherein the digitally encoded audio signals, electrical power, and digital command signals are transmitted over existing two wire analog audio cables, and further wherein the two or more retrofitted speaker enclosures are wired in a daisy chain fashion, via the existing two wire analog audio cables.

Abstract:
Some embodiments of the present invention include pairing two wireless devices by placing at least one of two devices in a pairing mode; performing at least one pairing motion event with at least one of the wireless devices to satisfy at least one pairing condition; detecting satisfaction of the at least one pairing condition; and pairing the two wireless devices in response to detecting satisfaction of the at least one pairing condition. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a smart subscriber line interface card (SLIC). The SLIC of the present invention includes a first and a second switch. A data receiver is coupled to a first output of the first switch to receive a user output signal and is adapted to generate a data receiver output therefrom. An ADC (analog to digital converter) is coupled to a second output of the first switch to receive the user output signal and is adapted to generate an ADC output therefrom. A data transmitter is coupled to a first input of the second switch and is adapted to generate a data transmitter output from a received digital network signal and couple the data transmitter output to the first input of the second switch. A DAC (digital to analog converter) is coupled to a second input of the second switch and is adapted to generate a DAC output from the received digital network signal and couple the DAC output to the second input of the second switch. A controller circuit is coupled to the first switch and the second switch and functions by configuring the first and second switch for either efficient data transmission and reception via the data receiver and data transmitter, or conventional communication via the ADC and the DAC.

Abstract:
Embodiments include determining a reference value on a first device; broadcasting the reference value from the first device; connecting the first device to a second device if the second device requests data from the first device; transmitting any new data if the second device requests data from the first device; generating and broadcasting a new reference value if the first device has new data; broadcasting the reference value from the first device again if the first device does not have new data; receiving a reference value in the second device from the first device; and if the received reference value does not match the stored reference value then transmitting a request from the second device for new data from the first device, receiving new data from the first device into the second device, and storing the received reference value as a new stored reference value. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
A service server apparatus is provided which can easily cope with a correction of an error of a task performed based on the content of verbal speeches of a speaker. The service server apparatus includes a service activating unit that receives an instruction for performing a different task from a task performed by an application relating to a speech communication, a telephone/call control enabler that records verbal speeches of the speaker during a speech communication between a plurality of speech communication terminal device, a speech recognizing enabler which performs a task based on the recorded speeches and which generates task data including text data representing the result of the performance and speech data representing the result of the performance, a text translating enabler, and a speech synthesizing enabler.
Abstract:
This invention provides methods and apparatus for providing customized prior-to-answer and in-call media playback telephony services. The services allow for playback of customized media content to calling parties in the form of customized ringback tones, engaged tones, call holding, call transfer tones and other content such as pre-recorded announcements. The media content for playback is stored in equipment associated with subscribers and playback of the media content is originated from the subscriber equipment. The invention allows subscribers to give their telephony services a personal touch as they can choose different items of media content for playback to different calling parties. As the media content is stored on subscriber equipment local to subscribers, no additional network resources such as data storage and data processing facilities are required.
Abstract:
The signal processing device comprises the adaptive gain calculation unit configured to calculate and output the adaptive gain for processing the voice reception output signal, by utilizing at least the voice transmission input signal and the relative volume value indicating the predetermined relative sound volume ratio between the voice transmission input signal and the voice reception output signal; and the multiplication unit configured to calculate the voice reception output signal by multiplying the signal based on the voice reception input signal by the value based on the adaptive gain.
