摘要: In a connection comprising N channels for transmitting a high data rate, a first channel is provided in a control unit which takes over coordination of the further N−1 channels. The individual channels of the connection comprising N channels furthermore appear in the exchange according to the use of their resources; however, only the first channel is responsible for controlling the connection, so that only one single N-fold connection is set up through the switching system.

摘要: An input distribution packet switch network includes a plurality of 2×2 switch elements and packet input modules for the switch network. The switch elements are arranged in multistage and connected in accordance with Shuffle type topology to constitute a N×N switch network (N=2k, k: integer number of 2 and over). The links of the leftmost and rightmost switch elements are connected to one another so that the N×N switch network can have a ring architecture. The packet input modules are distributed laterally in the switch network.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a method for transmitting data via a number of interfaces arranged in parallel. The interfaces respectively have a receiver unit for receiving data packets and for intermediate storage of these data packets and have a transmitter unit for sending data packets. Further, an overall buffer memory is provided for the number of interfaces. The inventive method discloses an allocation of buffer memory capacity of the overall buffer memory for the receiver unit of every interface upon initialization, the transmission of a data packet to a receiver unit of an interface from a communication unit, the intermediate storage of the data packet transmitted to a receiver unit in the buffer memory space allocated to the receiver unit and the request of further buffer memory capacity at a memory location manager, the allocation of the further, requested buffer memory capacity for the requesting receiver unit by the memory location manager, the transmission of the memory capacity space allocation to a transmitter unit, the transmission of the intermediately stored data packet by the transmitter unit, and the release of the buffer memory location of the transmitted data packet, so that this buffer memory location of the overall buffer memory can be re-assigned by the memory capacity manager.

摘要: A method for scheduling packet data transmissions in a wireless communication system wherein a per-user Priority Function (PF) is calculated based on the channel condition and throughput for each user. In one embodiment, the system supports retransmission of data packets and sub-packets, wherein the retransmission information is used to schedule data transmissions. In another embodiment, at each time interval the system updates the priority factor for the user having the highest priority factor in the previous time interval. The priority factors of the other users remain unchanged.

摘要: In accordance with the invention, an interface between an incumbent local exchange carrier's central office terminal and a competitive local exchange carrier's remote terminal is provided by an Integrated Services Digital Network interconnection. Such a connection provides two basic data channels of 64 Kbps each and at least one utility channel. The ISDN signal can be carried over a single wire pair. The interface may be used to interconnect one or two digital channels. The channel units may be designed to remove the robbed bits from the data channels and place them in the utility channels. Further, the utility channel may be employed to transmit frame phasing information so that the networks can synchronize their robbed bit signaling so that both networks use the same bit positions for robbed bit signaling thus minimizing data bandwidth reduction due to robbed bit signaling.

摘要: Different signal patterns are inserted in different time slots within a vacant slot for signals passing through redundantly configured units. A selector, which selects one of the units as a working unit, is controlled to select the inserted signal patterns in sequence. A pattern monitoring circuit is provided on the output side of the selector, and identifies a faulty unit by detecting an abnormality in a signal pattern.

摘要: An apparatus for processing a frame structured data signal, the data signal comprising at least one data frame comprising a plurality of data elements arranged in accordance with a frame structure. The apparatus is arranged to generate a tag element for each data element, the configuration of the tag element corresponding to the position of the respective data element within the detected data frame. The apparatus further includes a data processor, arranged to perform one or more respective processing operations on one or more of the data elements, wherein the or each processing operation is determined by the configuration of the respective tag element. The apparatus enjoys the flexibility afforded by a data processor while having relatively low processing power requirements. As a result, it is capable of processing a relatively high volume of data in real time, and is programmable to support more than one frame structure and data rate thereby reducing development, implementation, field maintenance and upgrade costs.

摘要: Enhanced performance is realized in a multi-fabric/multi switch group interconnect network by providing asymmetric fabric topologies wherein at least one link between a user-port and a switch-port (or between a pair of switch ports) is different in the fabrics. Asymmetry in fabric topology can increase lower-distance (distance-1) pairs, increase network bisection capacity, or reduce the number of switches employed. End nodes can choose at the time of connection the fabric which offers a shorter connection or fewer router hops. Alternatively, a connection can be set up to use either fabric with the end node dynamically exercising its preference for the fabric that offers the shorter path at the time of data transfer. While the number of router hops does not significantly alter message latency in wormhole-routed networks, it does lower link occupancy and thereby average link contention.

摘要: A communication network having multiple codecs communicating voice calls between an originating network and a terminating network. The communication network includes an originating codec and a terminating codec. The network provides signaling indicating the decoding algorithm to the originating network, and indicating the encoding algorithm to the terminating network. The original encoding algorithms and the original decoding algorithms are then altered from the standard as a function of this signaling to produce a best fit encoding matching to improve voice quality.
