Abstract:
A mechanism and method for efficient endpoint discriminator allocation for APS protected MLPPP bundles on distributed routing systems, including one or more of the following: specifying working and protection MLPPP bundles; retrieving an endpoint discriminator for the working bundle and updating an endpoint discriminator of the protection bundle based on same; specifying MLPPP operating parameters for the bundles; associating the bundles with an APS circuit; adding links and corresponding discriminators in an LCP between a near end bundle and a far end bundle; bringing up an MLPPP session; and adding links between bundles upon an APS switchover.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a line terminating device for a subscriber line which transmits and receives broadband signals via a single subscriber line, a broadband signal being composed of a broadband or narrowband audio-frequency data signal and a broadband higher-frequency data signal and the frequency bands of the voice signal and of the data signal essentially not overlapping. The line terminating device according to the invention has a digital frequency separating filter in the digital section of the line terminating device, which is arranged in the digital section of the line terminating device so that the audio-frequency voice signal is separated from the higher-frequency data signal. In particular, the line terminating device is suitable for separating an ISDN or POTS voice signal from an ADSL data signal.
Abstract:
A PBX switch incorporates methods and apparatus for automatically configuring Call Appearance values in an ISDN BRI. The methods and apparatus include providing means for one PDN to call the other PDN in the same BRI, recording the Call Appearance data for the first call, placing the first call on hold and calling the same number again, recording the Call Appearance data for the second call, and repeating the process until all Call Appearance values have been recorded. According to the invention, the process is repeated for both PDNs in each BRI coupled to the PBX switch.
Abstract:
In one embodiment of the invention, an ISDN subscriber card includes an HDLC controller (4) which is used to concentrate Internet frames so as not to occupy a telephone circuit for each call to an Internet service provider. Application to ISDN telephone exchanges.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device and to a method for the packet-based access of classical ISDN/PSTN subscribers to a switching system. The convergence of packet-based networks and TDM networks leads to a situation where classical analogous and ISDN subscribers and private branch exchanges have to be accessed via packet-based transmission methods. Especially for the case of a failure of, for example, the subscriber terminals TNE or switching system-related devices or intervening communication paths, it must be made sure that substitute connections can be made and stable connections can be maintained. This problem is solved by the present invention by providing a peripheral adaptation device, integrated into the periphery of the switching system, and being suitable for the adaptation of the messages used on the interface between subscriber terminal and peripheral adaptation device, to the requirements of the plurality of peripheral devices associated with the TNE port. Furthermore, software functions are provided for treating the failure of, for example, the subscriber terminal, the one peripheral adaptation device or one of the associated periphera devices of the switching system. The interaction of said failure treatment software functions controls the substitute connection and restart of failed peripheral devices, peripheral adaptation devices and communication paths to subscriber terminals.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for adjusting the bandwidth of a connection between at least two communication endpoints in a data network via a monitoring unit and a control unit. The connection in the data network is assigned at least one transmission channel for data transmission. The user data is, in this case, allocated to at least one communication connection; in particular a voice connection. The monitoring unit monitors the signaling connection for requests for at least one further communication connection; in particular, a voice connection. When a request occurs, it signals to the control unit to assign to the connection one or more additional free transmission channels for the at least one requested communication connection.

Abstract:
Method and system for defining access rights in a telephone switching system comprising functions for controlling the operating system of the telephone switching system on the basis of commands entered. In the method, the right of access to the operating system is determined on the basis of a user identifier and a password associated with it. Moreover, a user profile is formed, said profile comprising one or more user identifiers and having a predetermined validity period. According to the method, a validity parameter associated with the user data is decreased on the basis of elapsed time and/or the number of log-on times and/or the weighting values of the commands entered.
Abstract:
A software-based automated DS0 channel format analysis routine resident in a U-BRITE interface card's microcontroller solves the problem of potential misconfiguration of ISDN interface circuit cards, as may result from the failure to properly set DS0 time slot option switches to their intended ISDN channel assignments. When exercised, the routine automatically determines not only what DS0 channels are available at the remote ISDN circuit card, but also the order in which those DS0 channels are multiplexed by that remote card's circuitry. As a consequence, once the routine has run to completion, each ISDN interface card will contain the same DS0 time slot multiplexing scheme—corresponding to what has been manually configured at a remote card—even if the remote card's DS0 option switches were originally incorrectly set.
Abstract:
Heretofore, depending on a network (switching device) to be used, call releasing has not been normally finished since a time until data link releasing took a value intrinsic to the device. According to the present invention, the counting of a predetermined time is started depending on determination as to the execution of call releasing. Then, depending on the passage of a predetermined time, the process of releasing a data link is started.
