An epoxybenzyl-terminated poly(arylene ether) has the structure R—W—R wherein W is a divalent poly(arylene ether) residue terminated with phenolic oxygen atoms, and R is an epoxybenzyl group, wherein each occurrence of R is the same or different. The epoxybenzyl-terminated poly(arylene ether) is formed by reacting a peroxide-containing reagent with a vinybenzyl-terminated poly(arylene ether). Also disclosed is a curable composition including the epoxybenzyl-terminated poly(arylene ether)s, a curing promoter, and, optionally, an auxiliary epoxy resin. The curable composition is useful for the preparation of composites, and in particular, composites used in manufacturing printed circuit boards.

Acrylics, resins, and polymers are provided that include a RF-monomer unit. Compositions are provided that include a substrate having a RF-composition thereover. Aqueous Film Forming Foam (“AFFF”) formulations are provided that can include RF-surfactants and/or RF-foam stabilizers are provided.

A curable composition includes a functionalized poly(arylene ether), a vinyl thermoset resin, and a flame retardant composition. The flame retardant composition includes a trihydrocarbylphosphine oxide and a nitrogen-containing flame retardant that may be melamine phosphate, melamine pyrophosphate, or melamine polyphosphate. The combination of the trihydrocarbylphosphine oxide and the nitrogen-containing flame retardant is particularly effective at improving the flame retardancy of the cured composition at relatively low levels of total flame retardant. A method of preparing the curable composition and articles including the cured composition are also described.

A crosslinked poly(arylene ether) film is prepared by a method that includes forming a film from a composition that includes a poly(arylene ether) having an intrinsic viscosity of at least 0.25 deciliter per gram and a polydispersity index less than or equal to 10, and irradiating the poly(arylene ether) film with a dosage of about 50 to about 50,000 kiloGrays of accelerated electrons. The films exhibit good flexibility and solvent resistance. Films prepared by the method are described, as are articles that include such films.

A process is provided for forming a fiber-reinforced resin structure having an opening therein by vacuum bag forming. A resin infusion port is disposed adjacent a mold surface. The resin infusion port has a resin inlet and at least one resin outlet. A fiber-reinforced ply is distributed adjacent the mold surface about the resin infusion port. A flexible covering is placed over the fiber-reinforced ply and the mold surface to form a chamber therebetween. The chamber is evacuated. Resin is dispensed into the resin infusion port through the resin inlet. The resin is infused into the ply by dispensing resin into the chamber from the resin infusion port through the resin outlet. The resin is cured within the resin infusion port and within the chamber to form a cured resin structure which is subsequently removed from the mold surface. An opening is formed in the resin structure by removing the resin infusion port and a portion of the resin structure adjacent the resin infusion port.

In the improvement, the width of the hardfacing material on the tip is greater than the width of the hardfacing material on the winged portions, thereby conforming the location of hardfacing material to a soil pressure gradient along the cutting edge. A new method for applying a hardfacing material to an agricultural sweep includes the steps of (a) determining a face pressure gradient resulting from soil passing across the face and applying hardfacing material to those portions of the face at which the gradient exceeds a predetermined value.

A camera includes a body portion having a cartridge chamber for a film cartridge and a film chamber for a filmstrip, a high energy lever returnable to a cocked position, and a film metering pawl movable in engagement with the filmstrip. The film metering pawl is placed in engagement with the filmstrip to prevent winding of the filmstrip into the cartridge, and released from engagement when the high energy lever is being returned to its cocked position to permit the filmstrip to be wound into the cartridge. The film metering pawl is movable to a film metered position where it is locked and the film advance is disabled.

The shutter release button is positioned on one side of a pivotable trigger which raises a release element when the shutter release button is depressed. The release element, coupled to the film metering mechanism, remains in a raised position until the film metering mechanism has metered the filmstrip. Preferably, the shutter release can be used in a pump-action camera, the shutter release remaining hidden until a succeeding exposure frame has been advanced and metered.
