Abstract: Described herein is a 2K clearcoat composition including, Component I including a). at least one resin having carboxylic acid groups with acid value of 50 to 400 mg KOH/g; b). at least one resin having hydroxyl functional groups with a hydroxyl value of 10 to 800 mg KOH/g; c). at least one catalyst; and d). at least one solvent, and Component II including e). at least one epoxy-functional alkoxysilane and/or its oligomer and/or its polymer; and f). at least one crosslinker reactive to hydroxyl groups. Also described herein are a substrate coated with the dried and cured 2K clearcoat composition and an automotive including the substrate.

Abstract: The preparation of monodispersed TiO2 nanocrystals with nanocrystal size between 1-30 nm is described herein. These TiO2 nanocrystals are used to prepare dispersions into solvents, formulation into monomers, oligomers, and polymers, and nanocomposites from the resulting formulations. Dispersions of nanocrystals can be formed in various solvents at high loading, high transmittance, and low viscosity. Formulations incorporating these nanocrystals and a matrix material are highly stable, where the resulting nanocomposites have high refractive index and are optically transparent in the visible wavelengths, with very little or no scattering.

Abstract: A coating composition, a coating film, and a micro-channel type heat exchanger using the same are disclosed herein. The coating composition contains a hydrophilic resin at 10 to 40% by weight; a metal compound at 1 to 10% by weight; an amide-based crosslinking agent at 0.5 to 5% by weight; a phosphoric acid-based compound at 1 to 5% by weight; a preservative at 0.1 to 3% by weight; and water as a remainder. Thus, the coating composition provides a coating film that has both long-term corrosion resistance and long-term hydrophilicity.

Abstract: Certain monomer composition mixtures having desirable properties for purposes of impregnating porous substrates (e.g. low viscosity, low vapor pressure, low viscosity) have also been found after curing to have surprisingly good mechanical characteristics at elevated temperature (e.g. relatively high storage modulus and flexural stress at ≥90° C.). These monomer compositions comprise a blend of at least two different monomers, the first being a mono- or difunctional methacrylic or acrylic ester and the second being a polyfunctional methacrylic or acrylic ester. The total amount of monofunctional and difunctional monomers in the composition is in a weight range from about 20 to about 90% and the total amount of polyfunctional monomers is in a weight range from about 10 to about 80%. These monomer compositions are particularly suitable for preparing robust, impregnated carbon plates for use in solid polymer electrolyte fuel cells, which typically operate around this elevated temperature.
