Abstract: Printing apparatus includes a donor supply assembly, which positions a transparent donor substrate having opposing first and second surfaces and a donor film formed on the second surface so that the donor film is in proximity to a target area on an acceptor substrate. An optical assembly directs one or more beams of laser radiation to pass through the first surface of the donor substrate and impinge on the donor film so as to induce ejection of material from the donor film onto the acceptor substrate. Means are provided to mitigate or compensate for the variation in reflection of the laser radiation across an area of the donor substrate, so as to equalize a flux of the laser radiation that is absorbed in the donor film across the area of the donor substrate.

A position at which a propagation efficiency of light peaks in a scanning direction of the light is located between a center of an image height of the optical system and a surface area in which the second electrostatic latent image is formed out of the surface of the photosensitive member.

Abstract: An automated system and method of printing designs. The system and method can manage print content by application of programmable inks to selected areas in the packaging where frequently modified designs are printed. Such an approach allows the area to be precisely activated to correspond to the target pattern of the desired design and permanently change color. In some embodiments, any change in the text on the packaging/label would then only need to be translated into a corresponding UV or heat pattern, thereby avoiding the production of a new print cylinder to print the changed design. The proposed embodiments are effective in reducing downtime during print operations as well as expanding the capacity of the print apparatus to dynamically respond to changes in print designs.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: a unit configured to form an electrostatic latent image using a plurality of scan lines on a photosensitive body by, on a basis of an image signal, performing scanning of the photosensitive body in a main scan direction using one or more scanning beams repeatedly in a sub-scan direction orthogonal to the main scan direction; and a unit configured to store start position information indicating start positions in the main scan direction of the plurality of scan lines. In a case where scan positions in the sub-scan direction of the plurality of scan lines are linearly shifted relative to a target position with a period of N number of scan lines, the start position information indicates to linearly shift the start positions of N scan lines in the main scan direction along the sub-scan direction.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for using a line laser (LL) to quickly mark a substrate or media by utilizing a laser additive on/within the substrate/media, which greatly reduces the power requirement for marking the substrate/media. The combination of the LL wide swath (>305 mm) and the improved media/surface sensitivity to laser wavelength allows the LL marking system to achieve faster marking than other systems. The LL is mounted over a transport which transports the sensitized substrate/media past the LL for marking. The desired image is projected from the LL line by line in synch with the moving media and once the media passes the beam path of the LL, marking is complete. In this case, the media has been physically-altered via the heat generated by the LL interacting with the photosensitized media and is permanent. A second method would use a photosensitizing agent coated on top of the media to be marked.
