Abstract:
A method for transmitting data in a communications system and a communication arrangement comprising a first network entity (10) and a second network entity (20), the arrangement being configured to transmit data in messages between the first network entity (10) and one or more third network entities (41, 42, 43) through the second network entity (20) by using the TCP/IP or UDP/IP transport protocol, wherein each message comprises a port number parameter indicating a TCP or UDP port number, respectively, and to use a modified port number parameter further indicating an identity of the third network entity (41, 42, 43), to/from which a message is transmitted, in the transmission of such a message between the first network entity (10) and the second network entity (20).
Abstract:
A data transport method in a telecommunications system is provided. The method comprises creating a traffic channel connection between two network elements in the telecommunications system, allocating data of a number of user entities for transportation over the virtual channel using overbooking, buffering data packets into separate buffers, according to the priority level of the packets, to wait for transport over the traffic channel, and multiplexing the data packets with determined priority levels into the virtual channel according to the priority level of the packets such that whenever higher priority level data packets are available, the higher priority level data packets are multiplexed into the virtual channel before lower priority level data packets. Additionally, formation of user data packets is controlled according to a filling degree of at least one of the buffers.
Abstract:
A method of external data storage in a system including a primary processing device, having a processor and a primary data storage unit, adapted to run application programs for processing active records in the processor and configured to store data belonging to active records in the primary data storage unit; and a secondary data storage system, accessible to the primary processing device, includes loading data belonging to an active record into the primary data storage unit and externalising the record by transferring at least a piece of data belonging to the record to the secondary data storage system for storage. The step of externalising a record includes the making of a call by an application program using data belonging to the record to an interface, arranged to transfer the piece of data to the secondary data storage system.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method support user devices (109-113) and multiple core networks (125, 126) with a network. A rule set for a user device is associated with a core network (125, 126). Access information associated with a network is converted to core network behaviors using the rule set. A network element (400) can be employed to map the network information to core network information using the rule set for network uses.
Abstract:
A digital to RF-conversion device that combines the D/A conversion function and the upconversion function by a RF-carrier or IF-signal. The device comprises a plurality of parallel unit cells, each of which is a mixer cell type converter having a differential data switch section connected in series to a differential LO-switch pair. The differential LO-switch is further connected in series to a current source. Each unit cell is adapted to receive a control voltage indicative of a data signal value.
Abstract:
A method and arrangement for personalization of services and applications in telecommunication networks are disclosed. The inventive solution means that a user is able to access his/hers services and applications from any terminal in any network. The following features are included in the inventive solution: All the user's settings and preferences for all his services and applications are incorporated in a User profile. The User Profile is made available in the world-Wide-Web as an XML web service (12). The user is allowed to access and modify his/her profile via a User Profile Web Portal (10). Services and applications can access the user profile via a Web interface.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for providing a solution to the handoff problem includes negotiation of new media codes (coders/decoders) for utilization in cases where the two devices involved in the handoff are incompatible. Although mobile IP (MIP) is presently utilized to perform handoff procedures, this technique lacks a trigger mechanism to initiate handoff between two different devices which communicate with two different networks or one common network. In addition, MIP does not address the issue of compatibilities between media types, codes and supported bit rate. The handoff utilizes a session protocol (SIP) message for handoff.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and data transfer arrangement for synchronizing information comprised by an application program in a client device. In the method, information comprised by an application program in the client device is updated from a media server maintaining up-to-date information. In addition, the data transfer arrangement comprises a separate license server, which contains two separate license files: the first license file and the second license file. The up-to-date status of information in the client device can be ensured by means of the first license file. The second license file comprises information by which the update required by the client device can be retrieved from a media server maintaining up-to-date information.
Abstract:
A plug-in network appliance is disclosed. In one aspect, a network appliance performs a bridge between two wireless communication formats. In another aspect, a network appliance is deployed to perform position location services. In another aspect, a mesh network comprising one or more network appliances is deployed. A mesh network comprising one or more network appliances may be deployed to perform position location services. A plug-in form factor is described. A network appliance may convert power received from a plug in a first format to power in a second format for powering various components. A network appliance may connect with a wireless network and/or a network connected through a plug. A plug-in network appliance may connect to a weight-bearing outlet. Various other aspects are also presented.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing cost-effective broadband mobile services using a hybrid wireless network consisting of wide-area cellular (“3G”) supplemented by hotspot caches are provided. The proposed architecture uses opportunistic access of high-bandwidth wireless hotspot to dramatically reduce the cost per MB of media delivered to mobile end-users. The system also uses a “semantic multicast routing” approach to caching and delivering media based on individual user profiles.
