    摘要: An optical network communication system utilizes a passive optical network including an optical hub having an optical line terminal, downstream transmitter, an upstream receiver, a processor, and a multiplexer. The upstream receiver includes a plurality of TWDMA upstream subreceivers. The system includes a power splitter for dividing a coherent optical signal from the optical hub into a plurality of downstream wavelength signals, a long fiber to carry the coherent optical signal between the optical hub and the power splitter, and a plurality of serving groups. Each serving group includes a plurality of optical network units configured to (i) receive at least one downstream wavelength signal, and (ii) transmit at least one upstream wavelength signal. The system includes a plurality of short fibers to carry the downstream and upstream wavelength signals between the power splitter and the optical network units, respectively. Each upstream subreceiver receives a respective upstream wavelength signal.

    摘要: An electronic-photonic integrated precision delay-control component comprises a coarse-delay switching unit that is configured to assume one of a plurality of selectable switching states and to feed, in a given one of the switching states, an optical input signal forward to at least one of a plurality of selectable optical coarse-delay paths. A controllable fine-delay unit is configured to subject the optical input signal to a selectable fine group-delay amount that is tuneable between zero and a maximum fine group-delay amount. The coarse-delay switching unit and the fine-delay unit are arranged in a series connection to control application of a respective total group-delay amount to the optical input signal on any selectable total delay path, the total group-delay amount corresponding to a sum of the respective coarse group-delay amount and of the selectable fine group-delay amount. Co-integration of electronic components allows a complete pulse train generation on one chip with low sensitivity to perturbation, low drift and low manufacturing costs. A desired delay of individual pulses of the optical input signal can be tuned on chip with particularly high precision at particularly high pulse repetition frequencies.

    摘要: In an optical wireless communication, OWC, network (100), time division multiple access, TDMA, is commonly used for interference suppression among multiple network devices (D1-Dn) associated to a single coordinator, or among adjacent coordinators (C1-Cn). However, an offset of MAC cycles among two adjacent coordinators (C1-C2) may still result in interference to a network device (D1) located in the overlapping area of the coverage areas of these two adjacent coordinators (C1-Cn). This invention is directed to various methods, apparatus, systems, computer program and computer-readable media for providing a mechanism to make use of an out-of-band channel to send a signal from a network device (D1) to the two adjacent coordinators (C1-C2), for assisting the alignment of MAC cycles among the two adjacent coordinators (C1-C2), and the out-of-band channel has a line-of-sight character, and is out-of-band as compared to the OWC network (100).
