Abstract: A wound rotor, such as a wound rotor for an electric machine, includes a shaft having a main axis. The shaft includes a manifold. The wound rotor also includes a winding wire and n poles wound and ordered with an ascending order number obtained by rotation about the main axis. The n wound poles can be distributed radially about the main axis. The n poles are wound with the wire in series in turn according to their ascending order numbers, the last pole, however, not being wound last.

Abstract: An electric machine includes a stator having a stator winding disposed thereon. A rotor is electromagnetically exposed to the stator. A field winding and an induction winding are disposed on the rotor. A rectifier is electrically coupled to the induction winding and the field winding. Upon application of a voltage to the stator winding, the stator winding produces a first rotating magnetic field and a second rotating magnetic field that has a different spatial frequency than the first rotating magnetic field. The first rotating magnetic field interacts asynchronously with the induction winding to produce an alternating current in the induction winding. The rectifier changes the alternating current to a direct current that is supplied to the field winding. The field winding interacts synchronously with the second rotating magnetic field.

Abstract: A three-phase switched reluctance machine has a rotor, a first stator and a second stator. The rotor, first stator and second stator are coaxially and concentrically disposed. The rotor and both the first stator and second stator have corresponding poles. Only one of the stators has coils wound about its poles, while the other stator does not have any coils. A defined relationship between the number of rotor poles, the number of stator poles on the first stator and the number of stator poles on the second stator may improve the torque quality of the switched reluctance machine.

Abstract: A field coil type rotating electric machine includes a field coil having a serially-connected coil section pair consisting of first and second coil sections, a diode having its cathode and anode respectively connected to opposite ends of the serially-connected coil section pair, a rotating shaft, and a rotor having main pole portions radially protruding from a rotor core. In the rotating electric machine, there are formed both a series resonance circuit including the first coil section and at least one capacitor and a parallel resonance circuit including the second coil section and the at least one capacitor. Electronic components electrically connected with the field coil, which include the diode and the at least one capacitor, are arranged so that an overall center of gravity of all the electronic components is located closer than each of centers of gravity of the electronic components to a central axis of the rotating shaft.

Abstract: A switched reluctance machine has a stator core salient with stator poles disposed concentrically with a rotor that is salient with rotor poles. A plurality of coil windings are wound about the stator core so that a pair of windings are adjacent each of the stator poles. The pair of coil windings induces magnetic flux in the adjacent stator poles and the rotor rotates to align the rotor poles with the stator poles having the induced magnetic flux. The rotor is rotatable at high speeds of up to 50,000 RPM and the coil windings can be directly cooled.
