摘要: A modular furnace, in particular for the oxidative stabilization of a carbon fiber starting material comprising a cuboidal furnace chamber, on the upper face of which first deflecting rollers are arranged in a mutually spaced and parallel manner and on the lower face of which second deflecting rollers are arranged in a mutually spaced and parallel manner such that the carbon fiber starting material runs upwards and downwards in a laterally adjacent and slightly spaced manner so as to meander vertically in the area of the furnace chamber. A carbon fiber inlet locking device and a carbon fiber outlet locking device are provided on the upper face of the furnace chamber, and an air guiding device is connected to the furnace chamber. A supply air portion of the air guiding device is connected to a vertical air inlet side of the furnace chamber, and a discharge air portion of the air guiding device is fluidically connected to a furnace chamber vertical air outlet side opposite the vertical air inlet side. The air guiding device has an air drive device between the supply air portion and the discharge air portion.

摘要: A method for heat treatment of an electric power cable, the electric power cable including a polymer-based electrical insulation system with a polymer composition. The method steps include placing the electric power cable having the polymer-based electrical insulation system into a heating chamber and exposing the polymer-based electrical insulation system to a heat treatment procedure when the electric power cable is located in the heating chamber. The step of placing the electric power cable into the heating chamber includes winding the electric power cable about a substantially vertical center axis to form a substantially horizontal first layer of a plurality of substantially horizontal turns of the electric power cable, winding the electric power cable about the center axis to form a plurality of substantially horizontal second layers, each second layer being formed by a plurality of substantially horizontal turns of the electric power cable and stacking the plurality of horizontal second layers above the first layer. An apparatus is provided for performing the method.

摘要: Apparatus and operating methods are provided for controlled atmosphere furnace systems. In one possible embodiment, hydrogen is injected from a hydrogen source to an enclosure. The hydrogen is circulated within the enclosure from a gas inlet to a gas outlet. A temperature is raised within the enclosure to a predetermined threshold. Hydrogen is pumped from the gas outlet to the gas inlet with an electrochemical hydrogen pump. The electrochemical hydrogen pump has a first electrode in fluid communication with the gas outlet, and a second electrode in fluid communication with the gas inlet. An electrical potential is provided between the first and second electrodes, wherein the first electrode has a higher electrical potential with respect to zero than the second electrode. Various methods, features and system configurations are discussed.

摘要: A method for reducing NOx in a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) fossil-fuel fired boiler includes the steps of providing a first set of optical measurement devices adapted to measure NOx and NH3 concentrations contained in an exhaust stream from a fossil-fuel fired boiler, performing measurements of NOx and NH3 at an SCR inlet using the first set of optical measurement devices, and determining an NH3/NOx molar ratio using the measurements taken by the first set of optical measurement devices. The method further includes the steps of using the determined NH3/NOx molar ratio in comparison against a user specified NH3/NOx molar ratio set-point, and controlling an NH3 control valve to match ammonia flow to changes in boiler NOx emissions such that the molar ratio set-point is maintained.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide an atmosphere heat treatment apparatus that is operable without relying on experiences and/or intuitions of an operator, and a method of operating the same. The atmosphere heat treatment apparatus includes an entrance side exhaust path (26) for exhausting an inside atmosphere from an entrance side of a carburizing chamber (10) to which a transforming gas is supplied, an exit side exhaust path (35) for exhausting the inside atmosphere from an exit side of the heat treatment chamber, and an opening degree adjusting lid (28) attached for adjusting an opening degree of the entrance side exhaust path (26), in which a part or whole of the exit side exhaust path (35) is constituted of a pipe (46) having a predetermined inside diameter. It is checked in advance a relationship of a supplying amount A of the transforming gas with a ratio B:C of an exhaust amount B from the exit side exhaust path (35) and an exhaust amount C from the entrance side exhaust path (26) when a pressure in the carburizing chamber (10) is adjusted to a predetermined furnace pressure by adjusting an opening degree of the entrance side exhaust path (26) with the opening degree adjusting lid (28), and when treating a work (W), the supplying amount A of the transforming gas and a furnace pressure are adjusted so as to control the ratio B:C of the exhaust amount B from the exit side exhaust path (35) and the exhaust amount C from the entrance side exhaust path (26) to be within a predetermined range.

摘要: A method for heating metallic material, such as a slab or a billet, using at least one direct flame impingement burner. The heating power of the flame of the direct flame impingement burner is pulsated in cycles, so that the heating power is alternated between at least two different, predetermined heating powers. Each heating power is maintained during a certain predetermined time period. Some heating powers are lower than others, and the time periods are short enough so that the combination of the heating powers and their corresponding time periods results in not overheating the surface of the metal slab above a predetermined temperature during the time periods of the higher heating powers. The pulsated heating of the metallic material is interrupted when a certain stop condition is fulfilled, and the material is thereafter heated to another predetermined, final, homogenous temperature by the use of another, conventional heating method.
