Abstract:
There is illustrated a fuel fired brazier for an enclosed granular fuel burning boiler. The brazier has an apertured grate-like brazier base. The brazier base is moved by an actuator from an operative position, retaining fuel in the brazier to a discharge position where ash can fall through a hole. At the same time, fragmentation means, formed by crushing teeth, move across the brazier to trap, for example, a large piece of clinker, between it and the opposed distal wall of the brazier.

A fireplace grate having an upstanding frame supporting a basket a distance above the grate, without blocking the fireplace chimney, with the basket forming perforate reservoir filled with lumps of porous lava rock.
Abstract:
A ground supported single drum power boiler is described combining a refractory lined and insulated V-Cell floor; refractory lined and insulated combustion chamber; integrated fuel chutes configured to pre-dry wet solid fuel; top mounted fuel bin; internal chamber walls; configurable combustion air systems; and a back pass with after-burner ports and cross flow superheaters. The boiler can be configured in pre-assembled modules to minimize the field construction time and cost. An alternative embodiment is adaptable as a gasifier.
Abstract:
A waste fuel combustion system including a furnace having a grate for supporting waste fuel for burning, the grate including a plurality of movable members and a mechanism for reciprocating the movable members. The furnace also includes a primary gas passageway, a secondary gas passageway, and a throat through which the primary and secondary gas passageways pass in order to accelerate the flow of combustion gases. The waste fuel combustion system also includes recirculation conduits communicating between a source of exhaust gases and the primary and secondary gas passageways in order to recirculate the exhaust gases for additional combustion and degradation.
Abstract:
An incinerating device of metallic construction comprises a combustion chamber in which waste material is incinerated, a gas-scrubbing chamber in which the combustion gases are washed with water sprays to remove particulate material. The washed gases are vented to the atmosphere and the scrubbing water passes downwardly through a series of metallic mesh filter trays in a filter tower to remove particulate material from that water which is then recirculated to the scrubbing chamber. The walls and roof of the combustion chamber are formed as hollow metallic structures defined by inner and outer metallic members and cooling water flows continuously through those hollow structures to reduce thermal damage thereto.
Abstract:
A solid fuel burner having a housing with runners mounted inside its sidewalls and vertical rods passing upwardly through the runners which support two frames each having a shaker-grid opening therethrough with a shaker grid rockably supported therein, the shaker grids being capable of separate shaking so that one grid can support a coal fire and the other support a wood fire, and the frames having air slots therethrough offset from the grid openings with plugs for selectively closing them, and sideliner plates restable on the frames and leaning outwardly against the vertical rods between the grids and the sidewalls.
