    摘要: A variable ratio transmission includes an input and an output, having an expansible chainwheel. A first drive path is provided to rotate the chainwheel and a second drive path is provided to increase the diameter of the chainwheel upon application of a first input torque and to decrease the diameter of the chainwheel upon application of a second input torque of opposite sense to the first input torque. The first and second drive paths are connected to the input so that the second drive path has a mechanical advantage over the first to provide an increase in diameter of the chainwheel prior to its rotation.

    摘要: The invention concerns variable speed drive pulleys comprising a hub and two annular flanges around the hub in axial face-to-face relationship to one another. At least one flange, the mobile flange, is movable relative to the hub in the axial direction. Elastic control means responsive to centrifugal force operate on the mobile flange so as to reduce the distance between the flanges when their rotation speed increases. A bearing surface on one flange and an elastic bearing member on the other, in axial face-to-face relationship to one another, are adapted by virtue of their mutual abutment to limit elastically the reduction in the axial distance between the flanges for increasing rotation speeds.

    摘要: A V-belt continuously variable transmission in which a V-belt is made to run on a drive pulley having a speed responsive mechanism and a driven pulley having a torque responsive mechanism. The torque responsive mechanism of the driven pulley includes a spring cap slidably mounted on a sleeve to which a fixed pulley half or sheave is affixed. The spring cap has a plurality of studs passing through openings formed through the fixed pulley sheave and connected to a movable pulley sheave slidingly mounted on the sleeve. Formed on opposed faces of the fixed pulley sheave and the spring cap are plural arcuate ramps, each including grooves into which balls are inserted to provide rolling contact and reduced friction between the opposed ramps.

    摘要: An accessory drive especially adapted for use with internal combustion engines having a crankshaft is described. The drive comprises a variable pulley transmission having a pair of spaced pulleys drivingly interconnected by a power transmission belt. The pulley transmission having a driver pulley drivingly connected to an engine crankshaft. The driven pulley includes a pair of pulley flanges, one flange is axially movable with respect to the other flange, the driven pulley also comprises a pair of pulley flanges, one of which is axially movable with respect to the other flange. The spacing of the flanges of the drive and driven pulleys determines the drive ratio between the pulleys. Another pulley is connected to the driven pulley, to drive the accessories. A drive pulley spring urges the drive pulley flanges axially toward one another, and a driven pulley spring urges the driven pulley flanges toward one another. An hydraulic piston, connected to the drive pulley movable flange and acted upon by engine lubricating oil, displaces the drive pulley movable flange with respect to its other flange. An hydraulic governor responsive to engine speed controls the supply of engine lubricating oil to the piston.A one-way clutch can be interposed between the accessory pulley and the drive shaft which permits the pulley to freewheel during upshifts.

The discs define a circumferential groove of a V-shaped configuration with which a V-belt is engaged. The movable disc is formed at its back side with slider accommodating recesses of a circular cross-section extending in parallel with the shaft. A slider is received in the recess for rotation about an axis parallel with the driving shaft and has a groove extending in parallel with the driving shaft. A spider secured to the driving shaft has radial arms each of which is fitted at an end to the long groove in the slider.
