摘要: Disclosed is an adjustable apparatus for regulating the flow of fuel into a carburetor by use of a specially designed fuel metering rod. The hollow rod includes four different sets of holes along its sides at one end, each set separated from the adjacent sets by ninety degrees (90.degree.). The holes of each set are graduated from large to small, and each set covers a different range of hole sizes. The rod slides into a housing on the side of the carburetor, the holes regulating the amount of filtered fuel delivered to the carburetor. By sliding the rod, different sized holes on the rod line up with the exit opening in the housing to the carburetor. Sliding the rod also moves a linkage which causes the opening or closing of the air valves of the carburetor. The rod may be removed and rotated (either 90.degree., 180.degree. or 270.degree.) to allow a different set of holes to line up with the exit opening to the carburetor.

摘要: Carburetor for mixing air and fuel for internal combustion engines having fuel spray tube extending into throat to produce air/fuel mixture for combustion. Valve assembly has two similar sliding gate valve members which slide transversely across throat equal amounts in opposite directions and cooperate with tube. Fuel metering means coupled to valve members meters flow of fuel through fuel spray tube in amounts proportional to valve opening. In preferred embodiment spray tube has air bleed and discharge jet means spaced along tube which communicate with mixing manifold within tube and are closed concurrently by valve members as valve members approach each other. Air bleed jets admit air into fuel spray tube which mixes with metered fuel in manifold to form primary rich air/fuel mixture which discharges to produce desired leaner mixture.

摘要: A motor vehicle carburetor in which an arcuate swinging throttle valve controls the venturi throats and multi-apertured fuel nozzle overlies the valve with the fuel flowing therefrom due to the suction of air flowing thereby. The apertures are arranged so that air flows by the greatest number with the valve completely open and as the valve closes, air is prevented from flowing by successive apertures in the nozzle to prevent gas from being pulled therethrough by the flow of air. The feed mechanism for feeding gasoline from the gas tank to the nozzles is conventional. The carburetor throttle valve is controlled by a standard foot feed having a dash dot interposed in the linkage to effect a slight time delay in the opening of the throttle valve when the foot feed is suddenly depressed to its fullest extent.

摘要: An engine starter system that predicts when starter failure is imminent. The engine starter system monitors engine starter crank speed, battery voltage and ambient air temperature. The crank speed, battery voltage and ambient air temperature are communicated to a controller which compares the crank speed for the measured battery voltage and air temperature to a predicted crank speed for the measured battery voltage and air temperature. If the crank speed is lower than the predicted crank speed, a signal is sent to an alarm.

摘要: A carburetor comprising a body defining a throat, a throttle slide member slidably mounted on the body and disposed in the throat, a rotary actuator for the slide member, and a tapered metering rod or needle mounted on the slide member and extending downwardly into a fuel supply tube leading into a sealed and pressurized fuel reservoir or bowl secured to the body. The slide member has front and rear, substantially flat panels disposed in substantially parallel relation, with the front panel being shorter than the rear panel for the purpose of providing air at the outlet of the fuel supply tube even when the slide is in a closed position and for directing air toward and around the outlet when the slide is in an open position. The bottom of the rear panel has a cut-out portion in alignment with the metering rod and fuel outlet at the throat for the purpose of directing high speed air flow toward the metering rod and around the fuel outlet. The metering rod is provided with a downwardly and inwardly tapered, rear flat face and is mounted for longitudinal adjustment relative to the slide member. A shroud surrounds the forward face of the rod adjacent the fuel outlet to reduce turbulence, and an air supply channel surrounds the fuel outlet to promote a balanced system and an optimum fuel-air ratio.

摘要: There is disclosed a fuel injector for internal combustion engines having a rectangular throat and a valve in the throat having a gate located in the throat between air intake and outlet chambers, the gate being mounted to slide across the throat by operation of an accelerator to control the quantity of air passing through the throat to the intake manifold, there being a series of fuel jet ports in the throat arranged to be opened successively as the valve gate opens and closes the throat to eject fuel into the air stream passing through the throat, the proportion of air and fuel once determined being constant through the full range of acceleration and deceleration of the engine. The proportion may be varied by controlling the output pressure of a pressure regulato between the fuel supply and the carburetor.

摘要: A starting system of an engine according to the present invention comprises an electromagnetically-operated fuel resupply pump for supplying auxiliary fuel to an intake passage of the engine, and various detectors for detecting the operating conditions of the engine, e.g., engine speed, temperature of engine cooling water, drive of a starting motor, etc., and a control circuit for controlling the drive of the fuel resupply pump in accordance with signals from the detectors. The control circuit is partially formed of a microcomputer, which controls the pump so that a pulse voltage is applied to a solenoid of the pump for a longer time when the engine is in a cranking state than when the engine is in any other operating state.
