    Abstract: An attachment structure for a solenoid valve which can be stably attached to and removed from a carburetor unit with a single movement and without increasing the number of parts. A rod-like supporting portion is disposed a predetermined distance away from a surface of a carburetor unit and extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to a direction of and installed near an opening in the surface of the carburetor unit. A cylindrical engaging portion extends from a circumferential face of a cylindrical body fitted on the solenoid valve substantially perpendicular to an axial line of the rod-like supporting portion, and forms a groove-like engagement portion which is narrower in diameter than the rod-like supporting portion, whereby the engaging portion, via the groove-like engagement portion, is coupled to and supported by rod-like supporting portion when an insertion portion of the solenoid valve is inserted into the opening.

    Abstract: In at least some implementations a carburetor may include a main bore through which a fuel and air mixture is delivered from the carburetor, a fuel metering assembly, a supplemental fuel pump and a valve. The supplemental fuel pump includes a diaphragm that defines a fuel chamber on one side from which fuel may be discharged to at least temporarily increase the amount of fuel discharged from the carburetor and a reference chamber on the other side that is communicated with a reference pressure source. The valve is electrically actuated and moveable between first and second positions to at least substantially prevent communication of the reference pressure source with the supplemental fuel pump diaphragm when the valve is in its second position to thereby inhibit or prevent fuel being discharged from the fuel chamber.

    Abstract: Methods and fuel systems to reduce evaporative emissions of a volatile fuel. A fuel tank contains fuel, a carburetor mixes air with the fuel from the fuel tank, and a plurality of fluid paths route fuel amongst and/or between the fuel tank and the carburetor. A valve actuation device stops flow of fuel in one or more of the plurality of fluid paths and the carburetor is adapted to be drained of fuel during engine shutdown to reduce or prevent evaporative emissions from the fuel system. The carburetor is preferably designed so as to minimize a volume of fuel contained therein.

    Abstract: An internal combustion engine having an intake channel that opens into a crankcase. A first fuel channel opens into the intake channel to supply fuel thereto as a function of underpressure in the intake channel. An auxiliary channel opens into a transfer channel that fluidically connects a crankcase to the combustion chamber. A second fuel channel opens into the auxiliary channel and is connected to a storage reservoir for fuel. At least one valve controls the quantity of fuel to be supplied to the engine via the auxiliary channel. Largely fuel-free air is supplied to the engine via the intake channel during idling. During a first revolution of the crankshaft, fuel is supplied via the auxiliary channel, so that a combustible mixture can form in the combustion chamber. During a second revolution, largely fuel-free air is supplied via the auxiliary channel and the combustion chamber is scavenged with largely fuel-free air.
