    摘要: Improved fluid-mechanical and mechanical-fluid energy translation devices, such as fluid motors, pumps and certain actuators, meters, couplers and the like of the type having an orbital member disposed between a rotor element and a stator element and coupled with one of the elements by fluid displacement means and with the other element by gear means, are provided by employing therein a plurality of eccentric means for positively but shiftably mounting the member upon the element to which it is coupled by fluid displacement means in manner restricting relative motion between the member and the lastmentioned element to relative orbital motion. The element upon which the member is thus mounted may be either a rotor or a stator element and may be either the inner or the outer of the elements in various embodiments of devices incorporating the invention. The eccentric means, which are essentially cranks or shafts with offset axes, significantly are alone sufficient to accomplish the positive, shiftable mounting of the member and the restriction of same to relative orbital motion and to do so quite independently of any other fluid and mechanical couplings that may exist between the member and the elements in various particular forms of devices. The preferred embodiment also provides a further improvement in devices of this type employing vanes to define fluid displacement chambers by arranging the parts to maintain the pair of vanes bounding each chamber parallel to each other throughout the operating cycle, thereby maintaining the chordal transverse cross-sectional area of each chamber substantially constant throughout such cycle. The devices embodying the invention are characterized by increased efficiency and reliability, reduced wear on certain primary parts, and greater economy of manufacture by virtue of reduced strength and looser tolerance requirements in connection with certain primary parts.

    摘要: A hydraulic braking system is provided for automatically apportioning braking of the wheels of a vehicle in accordance with the load on respective wheels. A plurality of brake control assemblies each dedicated to one of the wheels of the vehicle are coupled to produce braking of the corresponding wheel upon activation of the brake pedal. The degree of actuation of each brake control assembly is controlled by an element which senses load differences between all wheels on the vehicle (including load differences between wheels on either side of the vehicle and between front and rear wheels), and adjusts the degree of actuation of the corresponding brake control assembly accordingly. In an illustrative embodiment each brake control assembly includes a brake control cylinder having a piston movably disposed therein. The pistons are coupled to the brake pedal so as to be maximally advanced into the brake control cylinder when a maximum brake force is applied. The load sensing device is a pendulum which is mounted for displacement along the length and width of the vehicle from a predefined normal position. The pendulum is coupled to each of the pistons so that, in its normal position, all pistons are equally displaced within their corresponding cylinders so that, when a force is applied to the brake pedal, all wheels receive an equal braking force. In operation, when the wheels of the vehicle have unequal loads, such as on turns, the pendulum is displaced from its normal position and causes the various pistons to be displaced by different amounts in their corresponding cylinders. Thus, when a force is applied to the brake pedal, the braking force is apportioned unequally among the wheels and in proportion to the load on each wheel.

    摘要: A hydraulic power transmission and braking system for vehicles in which individual hydraulic wheel motors are connected through suitable control apparatus to a variable displacement hydraulic pump which is driven by an appropriate power source. The displacement of the pump varies automatically in response to hydraulic fluid pressure and flow rate requirements imposed by the vehicle operating conditions. The power transmission control apparatus automatically switches from the 4-wheel drive mode to the 2-wheel drive mode as the vehicle accelerates past a predetermined speed. The braking control system proportions the braking force applied to each of the hydraulic wheel motors in accordance with the load imposed on that wheel by the vehicle operating conditions.
