Abstract: A reactor useful in the production and conversion of hydrocarbon feedstocks may include: a pressure vessel with an interior wall; a refractory lining inside the reactor, wherein the refractory lining comprises: a first layer comprising a brick refractory, a second layer comprising a refractory castable, wherein the refractory castable comprises an aggregate and a binder, wherein the binder comprises CaO·6Al2O3 and less than 1 wt % of a hydratable calcium aluminate, and a third layer comprising a fiber refractory, wherein the second layer is between the first and third layers, and wherein the third layer is closest to the interior wall.

Abstract: Methods and systems for processing construction and demolition (C&D) materials to produce a product gas stream and/or electricity are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the method comprises pre-processing C&D materials to produce a C&D feed, and processing the C&D feed to produce syngas. The C&D feed can comprise untreated wood, treated wood, paper and cardboard, yard waste, plastic, rubber, and/or foam. Processing the C&D feed can comprise gasifying the C&D feed, steam, and oxygen in a gasifier at a temperature of no more than 950° C. and/or a pressure of no more than 200 psi to produce syngas.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process and apparatus for converting feedstock comprising biomass and/or carbon-containing solid waste material to synthesis gas. The process comprises supplying a densified and pressurized feedstock to a gasifier comprising a fluidized bed zone and a post-gasification zone and contacting the feedstock with a gasification agent. Recovery and purification of the synthesis gas is then carried out involving the recycling of CO2 back to various stages in the process. The apparatus is configured to carry out the process and comprises transport lines to recycle the CO2. The synthesis gas can be further processed to form renewable synthetic products and/or chemicals.

Abstract: A syngas production system includes a gasification reactor and a syngas pressure vessel downstream of the gasification reactor. The syngas pressure vessel includes a pressure vessel having a body with a first portion and a second portion. The syngas pressure vessel also includes an evaporator disposed in the pressure vessel; a coil disposed in the pressure vessel; and a tongue-and-groove flange assembly. The tongue-and-groove flange assembly includes: a first flange with a raised ring extending from a face of the first flange, the first flange attached to the first portion of the body; a second flange with a groove defined in a face of the second flange. The second flange is attached to the second portion of the body. The raised ring extends from the face of the first flange and is positioned in the groove defined in the face of the second flange.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hybrid power plant for autonomously supplying energy to buildings, in articular residential buildings, and industrial facilities which are arranged in an area that comprises a source of biomass. The hybrid power plant is preferably arranged in the vicinity of buildings and industrial facilities to be supplied in order to provide energy locally. The hybrid power plant comprises at least one system for generating power from renewable energy sources and a power-to-X device for thermochemically converting electricity from renewable energy sources and biomass into other energy carriers which are stored and converted back into electricity on demand. In order to supply energy to the buildings and industrial facilities to be supplied during dark doldrums, the hybrid power plant comprises one or more energy storage devices and at least one system for converting energy back into electricity. The supply of energy to buildings or industrial facilities by means of the hybrid power plant is climate and CO2 neutral.

Abstract: Gasifiers, gasification systems, and methods for producing synthesis gas are disclosed. A gasifier can include a gasifier body. A feeder can be positioned to feed an organic material into the gasifier body. A pulse detonation burner can be located under or above the gasifier body and connected to the gasifier body to direct supersonic shockwaves upward into the gasifier body to heat the organic material and to form a jet spouted bed of the organic material or to operate as an entrained flow reactor. An outlet can be located at the gasifier body to allow removal of synthesis gas, residual ash, and other reaction products.

Abstract: The process described herein converts biomass directly into a combination of hydrogen, methane and carbon dioxide. A portion of the gases are collected at pressures above the thermodynamic critical pressure for water, which is 3200 psi (pounds per square inch). Typical operating pressure at the point where the first portion of gas collected can range from 3200 psi to 6000 psi. Upon cooling, most of the CO2 condenses to a liquid. At this density and pressure, the CO2 can be injected into a deep well aquifer to sequester the carbon dioxide. The overall process is superior to carbon neutral processes, can be carbon negative, and possesses the potential to reverse atmospheric CO2 trends if implemented on a global scale.

Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for preparing a gas in a closable reactor by supplying the reactor with carbon-based biomass or chopped wood material, such as chips, in substantially oxygen-free conditions, by allowing the biomass or wood material to gasify at a high temperature, and by recovering the gas generated in a gasification reaction. In that the arrangement the reactor has its interior defined by a feed pipe whose inlet end is closable with a shut-off valve, especially with a ball valve, and whose outlet end adjoins a heatable gasification dome, biomass or chopped wood material is delivered from the feed pipe's inlet end into the reactor's interior, the reactor's interior is supplied with free water/water vapor in its supercritical state, which is optionally prepared catalytically by splitting water/water vapor, the biomass or wood material is conveyed into a gasification space of the reactor's interior, which is in connection with the heated gasification dome and which is adapted to have existing conditions selected in a manner such that the water present in said gasification space is present in its supercritical state, and the gas generated in the gasification reaction is recovered.
