摘要: A process for converting magnesium chloride into magnesium oxide having the steps of: subjecting a magnesium chloride solution to a spray drying step in a spray-drying apparatus at a temperature of 300-475° C., resulting in the formation of a spray-dried product having 10-80 wt. % magnesium oxide and 20-90 wt. % of the total of magnesium hydroxychloride and magnesium chloride, subjecting the product of the spray drying step to a roasting step in a roaster at a temperature of 600-900° C. in the presence of water, resulting in the formation of a product having at least 98 wt. % of MgO, and less than 2 wt. % of the total of magnesium hydroxychloride and magnesium chloride, wherein the percentages of MgO, magnesium hydroxychloride and magnesium chloride, are calculated on the total of MgO, magnesium hydroxychloride and magnesium chloride.

摘要: Core-shell particles and methods of making and using thereof are described herein. The core is formed of or contains one or more hydrophobic materials or more hydrophobic materials. The shell is formed of or contains hyperbranched polyglycerol (HPG). The HPG coating can be modified to adjust the properties of the particles. Unmodified HPG coatings impart stealth properties to the particles which resist non-specific protein absorption and increase circulation in the blood. The hydroxyl groups on the HPG coating can be chemically modified to form functional groups that react with functional groups and adhere the particles to tissue, cells, or extracellular materials, such as proteins.

摘要: Lactic acid is obtained by a method including (A) a step of continuous fermentation wherein a fermentation culture medium of a microorganism having an ability of lactic acid fermentation is filtered through a porous membrane having an average pore size of not less than 0.01 μm and less than 1 μm with a transmembrane pressure difference within the range of 0.1 to 20 kPa, and the permeate is collected, while retaining the non-permeated liquid in or returning the non-permeated liquid to the culture, and adding a fermentation feedstock to the culture; (B) a step of filtering the permeate obtained in Step (A) through a nanofiltration membrane; and (C) a step of distilling the permeate obtained in Step (B) under a pressure of not less than 1 Pa and not more than atmospheric pressure, at 25° C. to 200° C. to recover lactic acid.

摘要: Core-shell particles have a hydrophobic core and a shell formed of or containing hyperbranched polyglycerol (HPG). The HPG can be covalently bound to the one or more materials that form the core or coated thereon. The HPG coating can be modified to adjust the properties of the particles. For example, unmodified HPG coatings impart stealth properties to the particles which resist non-specific protein absorption. Alternatively, the hydroxyl groups on the HPG coating can be chemically modified to form functional groups that react with functional groups on tissue or otherwise interact with tissue to adhere the particles to the tissue, cells, or extracellular materials, such as proteins. Such functional groups include, but not limited to, aldehydes, amines, and O-substituted oximes. Topical formulation for application to the skin contain these HPG coated nanoparticles. In some embodiments, the particles include therapeutic, diagnostic, nutraceutical, and/or prophylactic agents such as those used as sunblock compositions.

摘要: A method of catalytic oxidation of a lignite using oxygen as an oxidant at atmospheric pressure is provided. The method includes the following steps, pulverizing the lignite to 200-mesh or less; drying the pulverized lignite at a temperature of 80° C. in vacuum for 10 h; weighing 0.5 g of the dried lignite and sequentially adding 10 ml of acetic acid, 0.5 mmol of a catalyst and 0.15-0.25 mmol of a cocatalyst into a round-bottom flask filled with the oxygen, keeping oxygen pressure at 0.1 MPa, reacting at a temperature of 80-120° C. for 4-12 h; using oxygen as the oxidant to catalytically oxidize the reacted lignite at an atmospheric pressure of 0.1 MPa; filtering after the reaction is finished; decompressing the filtrate to remove the acetic acid, adding a small amount of ethyl acetate to dissolve, and using an excess CH2N2/ether solution to esterify for 10 h at room temperature; and analyzing the esterified product through a gas chromatography-mass spectrometer.

摘要: A process for producing lactic acid is provided. The process comprises (a) reacting a stream rich in saccharide with sodium hydroxide in the presence of water to produce a reaction mixture comprising sodium lactate; (b) reacting at least a portion of the sodium lactate with HCl to produce lactic acid and sodium chloride; (c) converting at least a portion of the sodium chloride to chlorine and sodium hydroxide; and (d) recycling at least a portion of the sodium hydroxide produced in step (c) to step (a). Also provided are processes for the production of alkyl lactate, oligomeric lactic acid, lactide, alkyl lactyllactate, poly-lactic acid, propylene glycol and acrylic acid.
