Described is an apparatus for simultaneously sterilizing a large number of packs (1) by means of a gas mixture containing hydrogen peroxide and a carrier gas. The apparatus comprises: supply lines (4) for the carrier gas and for hydrogen peroxide (5), a device (21) for evaporating hydrogen peroxide by heat and mixing it into the carrier gas, supply lines (4, 5) and a substantially horizontally extending distributor line (6, 22) and nozzles (3) which are arranged above the respective pack (1) and are connected to the distributor line (6, 22). In order simultaneously to provide, with a simplification in the apparatus, measures by means of which the concentration of the hydrogen peroxide at all nozzles is maintained equal over the plurality of packs at a given time, the invention provides that the distributor line (6, 22) from the upstream location (23) of the in-feed of the conditioned gas mixture to the location (9) of entry upstream of the respective nozzle (3) is in the form of a tubular body including a longitudinal passage, with at least one substantially tubular heating cartridge (18) extending over the length of the tubular body and distributed measurement points (12) and that the heating cartridge (18) is divided into at least two portions and can be heated controlledly by a supply of electrical energy in such a way that the temperature at the outer ends of the tubular body (6) differs from the temperature at the center.

The power interlock may further decouple power from the entire fuel dispenser. The detection of hydrocarbon vapors may also be communicated to another system including a remote location.

An automatic fueling system includes a pump having a telescoping arm capable of placement in three-dimensional space, a flexibly mounted nozzle on the end of the arm and a docking cone to mate with the fuel port on a vehicle. A camera provides a view of the side of the vehicle on a monitor with guides visible to the operator of the vehicle to assist in locating the vehicle within range of the pump. A light and a camera located adjacent to the nozzle are used to recognize retro-reflective light from an annular target about the intake port. Multiple approximations of the distance and location of the intake port are made with the nozzle moving closer to mating with the intake port. A data link is provided through the mated nozzle with a keypad accessible by the vehicle operator. The vehicle includes a control actuator which selectively couples actuator cables associated with the fuel door and the fuel inlet valve with the emergency brake cable to engage the emergency brake, open the fuel door and open the inlet valve. A vacuum system on an evaporation canister insures that vapor is drawn from the fuel tank as it is being displaced by incoming fuel.

A filling apparatus for filling receiving vessels with compressed gas lowers the temperature of the compressed gas in response to the filling pressure of the receiving vessel. As an internal pressure within the receiving vessel approaches a value indicative of a filled vessel, the temperature of the compressed gas is reduced to counter the effect of heat caused by increasing pressure within the vessel. The temperature of the compressed gas is reduced by slowing the compressor and allowing the gas to dwell for a longer period within a heat exchanger between stages of compression. In addition, the temperature of the compressed gas is reduced by increasing the efficacy of the heat exchanger such as by increasing the rate of air flow over the heat exchanger. Accordingly, engine speed, fan speed and compressor speed each can be varied according to various arrangements of the filling apparatus to reduce the temperature of the compressed gases being introduced into a receiving vessel.

Such other products may include soups, beverages such as milk shakes, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages such as beers, and so forth. Typically a method for controlling the delivery of a portion of a flowable substance includes the steps of: i) Delivering the flowable substance in a stream; and ii) Noting the time for the delivery of a portion of a targeted amount; and iii) Determining the weight of the portion, and iv) Using this information to influence the delivery of further substance to meet a pre-determined target value. A preferred method is characterized by both the weight of the flowable substance being delivered and the time for the delivery of same being repeatedly or continuously assessed to achieve delivery of a pre-determined target weight or volume.

A report can be presented to the apparatus operator, apparatus maintenance technician and/or to a central reporting facility.
