    摘要: An automated fueling assembly includes a refueling station that is positioned at a gas station for refueling gas burning vehicles. The refueling station includes a control panel that is movably integrated into the refueling station to facilitate a driver of a vehicle to access the control panel. The refueling station includes a robotic arm that is actuatable to extend into a refueling port in the vehicle for refueling the vehicle without requiring the driver to exit the vehicle. A pair of sensing units is each positioned on a driveway adjacent to the refueling station. Furthermore, the refueling station is turned on when each the sensing units senses the weight of the vehicle.

    摘要: An automatic fueling system includes a pump having a telescoping arm capable of placement in three-dimensional space, a flexibly mounted nozzle on the end of the arm and a docking cone to mate with the fuel port on a vehicle. A camera provides a view of the side of the vehicle on a monitor with guides visible to the operator of the vehicle to assist in locating the vehicle within range of the pump. A light and a camera located adjacent to the nozzle are used to recognize retro-reflective light from an annular target about the intake port. Multiple approximations of the distance and location of the intake port are made with the nozzle moving closer to mating with the intake port. A data link is provided through the mated nozzle with a keypad accessible by the vehicle operator. The vehicle includes a control actuator which selectively couples actuator cables associated with the fuel door and the fuel inlet valve with the emergency brake cable to engage the emergency brake, open the fuel door and open the inlet valve. A vacuum system on an evaporation canister insures that vapor is drawn from the fuel tank as it is being displaced by incoming fuel.

    摘要: A refuelling system is provided, the system comprising: a seal cylinder defining the outside surface of an axial vapor recovery volume within the seal cylinder having a first end and a second end; a first flexible conduit to supply fuel to within the seal cylinder through the first end; a movable seal piston within the seal cylinder connected to the first flexible conduit, the seal piston effective to isolate a vapor recovery volume within the seal cylinder from the atmosphere surrounding the flexible fuel conduit; a fuel insert tube connected to the seal piston and extending through at least a portion of the vapor recovery volume; a boot seal attached to the seal cylinder at the second end of the axial vapor recovery volume, the boot seal effective to seal with a fuel tank inlet nozzle; and a device to move the seal piston laterally through the seal cylinder and thereby extending the second flexible conduit through the second end of the axial vapor recovery volume and into a fuel tank inlet nozzle when the boot seal is mated to the fuel tank inlet nozzle.

    摘要: An improved below-ground apparatus and method for fueling a vehicle through an inlet on a exposed tank bottom. The apparatus is characterized by a frame carrying an upwardly-facing nozzle, a lift to move the frame and the nozzle from a fully-retracted to an intermediate position and from the intermediate position to a position for full engagement with the inlet. The intermediate position is determined by sensing the vertical position of the tank bottom and, at the intermediate position, the nozzle member is positioned on the frame in vertical alignment with the inlet prior to final lifting. In preferred embodiments, a blower creates an air ride for the nozzle member facilitating its positioning on the frame, and another blower creates a vacuum to hold the nozzle member is proper position and to eliminate fuel vapors. The nozzle member is preferably conical in shape.
