摘要: A method and apparatus for resistive heating usable in composite-based additive manufacturing is disclosed. The method includes providing a prepared stack of substrate sheets, placing the stack between electrode assemblies of a compression device, applying a current to thereby heat the stack to a final temperature to liquefy applied powder, compressing the stack to a final height, cooling the stack, and removing the cooled, compressed stack from the compression device. The apparatus comprises at least two plates, a power supply for providing current, a first electrode assembly and a second electrode assembly.

摘要: Relatively uniform spherical shaped solid pellets (prills) may be created by passing molten sulfur through a nested strainer to remove particles that would otherwise become trapped in the system, a drip tray with a heating channel attached on its underside, an injection conduit for delivery of a cooled zone of water to create solid prills, and thereafter moving the prills through a stationary curved screen to remove most of the excess water and a vibrating screen.

摘要: Apparatus is provided for applying a bead of gasket-forming material to a mateable surface of a workpiece. The apparatus includes a source of gasket-forming material and a screen having a predetermined pattern conforming to the desired bead of the gasket-forming material. A spreader applies the gasket-forming material to one side of the screen and the gasket pattern is then formed on an adjacent transfer surface of a transfer pad on the opposite side of the screen. Means are provided for moving the pad with the pattern on the transfer surface and engaging it with the mateable surface of a workpiece mounted on a support spaced from the screen, thereby forming a bead of gasket-forming material on the mateable surface. The transfer surface is moved through an arc of 180.degree. when moving between the screen and the workpiece surface.

摘要: Multiple processes for preparing porous articles are described. The porous articles can be in a wide array of shapes and configurations. The methods include providing a soluble material in particulate form and forming a packed region from the material. The methods also include contacting a flowable polymeric material with the packed region such that the polymeric material is disposed in voids in the packed region. The polymeric material is then at least partially solidified. The soluble material is then removed such as by solvent washing to thereby produce desired porous articles. Also described are systems for performing the various processes.

摘要: According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor that may access data pertaining to a part to be fabricated from material elements in a slurry of a liquid and the material elements, the data identifying a configuration of holes to be formed in the part. The processor may also access a digital model of a screen device having a plurality of pores based on the accessed data, the screen device to be used to fabricate the part, and may determine locations on a surface of the digital model of the screen device that correspond to the identified configuration of the holes to be formed in the part. The processor may further generate, at the determined locations on the surface of the digital model of the screen device, a plurality of walls that are to form the holes in the part.
