    摘要: A system and method that includes, in an embodiment, a prism, a camera, a light source, and a plate. The system, in an embodiment, is configured for scanning a roll and generating an image of the roll surface. The prism, in an embodiment, is positioned below the camera and above the plate. In an embodiment, the plate is positioned below the prism and above the roll surface. In an embodiment, the light source is positioned above the prism. In an embodiment, the light source and the prism are positioned to provide light to the roll surface at an angle of at least 75 degrees measured from a line normal to the roll surface. In an embodiment, the prism is configured to refract light from the light source, the camera is a line scan camera that includes a row of pixel sensors, and the light source includes light emitting diodes.

    摘要: A method of grind hardening a workpiece is provided. The method may include securing the workpiece in a workpiece retainer and a grind tool in a tool retainer, rotating the grind tool in a first angular direction at a first angular speed, controlling the workpiece and tool retainers such that the grind tool engages the workpiece, and controlling the workpiece and tool retainers such that the grind tool is guided along a grinding track of the workpiece. The grind tool may engage and/or disengage the workpiece at portions of sacrificial material disposed thereon. Coolant and cleaning nozzles may be provided and controlled such that at least a portion of the coolant from the coolant nozzle is diverted to the cleaning nozzle in a manner which reduces heat dissipation, improves thermal efficiency of the grind hardening and reduces loading of the grind tool.

A push roll spool for use in processing a glass tube may comprise a base having first and second axially spaced ends, and multiple sheets of heat resistant material disposed on the base between the axially spaced ends, forming an axially extending stack. The stack may have a circumferential, generally U-section groove having a profile defined by the peripheral edges of multiple said sheets having different diameters. The U-section groove may be sized to engage and drive a glass tube. The U-section groove may have two contact areas at which to engage and drive a glass tube. The heat resistant material may comprise mica or a mica composition, for example mica paper or ceramic fiber millboard.

    摘要: In a machine for centerless cylindrical grinding, the workpiece is located in a grinding gap, which is formed by the regulating wheel, the grinding wheel and the support blade. The regulating wheel rotates about its axis of rotation with the direction of rotation, and thereby drives the workpiece to rotate in the direction of rotation. The grinding wheel is driven to rotate about its axis of rotation with the direction of rotation. The workpiece passes in the direction of its longitudinal axis through a number of sets of regulating wheels and grinding wheels, which are each themselves arranged coaxially one behind the other. The regulating wheels and grinding wheels have axial interspaces on their axes; the regulating wheels thereby engage in the interspaces between the grinding wheels, and vice versa, so as to form lateral regions of overlap between the wheels.

The stationary components include guide rails, which extend substantially in parallel to a roll axis of the roll to be treated and which are connected to a substructure. Thus, the stationary components, such as the guide rails, can remain at the place of use of the rolls, while the components that are mobile or can be transported can be easily separated from the stationary components and can be transported to other locations.
