Abstract: A metallic product is produced by an additive manufacturing method. A device for practicing has a controller with a stored instruction set for implementing the manufacturing of the metallic product. The metallic product is manufactured in a piece-wise or layer-wise manner on a target platform by a print head that is in two-way communication with the controller. The print head operates on a momentum transfer technique in which pulsed energy from an impulse source is used to launch pieces of metal toward the target platform, the pieces of metal bonding at the target platform to manufacture the metallic product.

Abstract: Disclosed are a high-entropy alloy (HEA) coating and a preparation method and use thereof. Laser cladding is conducted with an HEA powder to obtain the HEA coating, where the HEA is a FeCoCrNiAl0.5Ti0.5 alloy, and the HEA includes the following chemical components in atomic percentage: Al: 10.01% to 12.30%, Co: 18.1% to 22.5%, Cr: 18.05% to 20.12%, Fe: 18.77% to 21.02%, Ni: 19.21% to 20.99%, and Ti: 8.43% to 11.5%. The HEA material with high hardness and wear resistance provided by the present disclosure is suitable for laser cladding of a surface of a precision mold, an offshore component, or a drilling rod. A powder is prepared from the above alloy components and then prepared into a corresponding HEA coating with high strength, high hardness, and prominent wear resistance through laser cladding. The material has prominent weldability and is a special nickel-based HEA material suitable for laser additive manufacturing.

Abstract: In a light shielding unit, an introductory reflection surface is positioned in the vicinity of a focus position of a first-order diffracted beam on an optical axis of a first-order diffracted beam and in the vicinity of a zero-order diffracted beam aperture. The introductory reflection surface reflects the first-order diffracted beam in a direction deviating from an incident direction of the first-order diffracted beam and going away from an optical axis of a zero-order diffracted beam. A light guide path has an introduction port to which light from the introductory reflection surface is incident and guides light introduced from the introduction port. A circumference of the light guide path is surrounded by a light shielding member. A light absorbing part absorbs light guided while being diffused by the light guide path.

Abstract: A pulley assembly having a body, a shaft mount and a plurality of bolts is disclosed. The body is aligned to the shaft mount by providing a tight tolerance between a shoulder portion of the bolt and a neck portion of a counter sunk hole formed in the body. Additionally, an outer surface of the body may have a pattern of friction lines or patches formed by fusing particulate matter to the outer surface with heat generated by a laser beam.

Abstract: A system includes a machine tool having a clamp. The system also includes a processing head configured to be temporarily held by the clamp of the machine tool. The processing head is also configured to deposit one or more media onto a workpiece. The processing head includes a guide configured to direct energy from an energy source onto the workpiece and/or the one or more media. The processing head also includes one or more supplies including one or more reservoirs within the processing head. The one or more reservoirs are configured to receive the one or more media, store the one or more media as the processing head is moved from one location to another location, and provide the one or more media.

Abstract: A method for welding between two metallic plates, including:
(a) fitting a solid plate without openings, configured to be transparent at at least one emission wavelength of a laser beam (F) emitted by a laser (L), between the laser (L) and at least one contact zone between the metallic plates to be welded;
(a1) inerting of the contact zone via a netural gas, where the neutral gas circulates in channels delimited by the contact zone between the metallic plates and by the solid plate;
(a2) exerting pressure on the two metallic plates to apply them against one another in the contact zone to be welded, where the application pressure is exerted by the solid plate directly in contact with one of the two metallic plates to be welded; and
(b) emission of a laser beam, through the solid plate, to perform welding of the metallic plates in the contact zone.-
