    摘要: A reaction tool for forming openings in an aircraft fuselage joint is provided. The joint includes (i) a first side from which a forming tool is to be applied at a plurality of opening locations and (ii) an opposing second side. The reaction tool includes a plurality of connectors configured to couple to the joint second side, and a reaction bar coupled to the plurality of connectors. The reaction bar is configured to extend across the plurality of opening locations. The reaction tool also includes a plurality of reaction members coupled to the reaction bar. Each of the reaction members includes a clamping surface configured to couple to the joint second side such that each clamping surface at least partially surrounds a corresponding one of the plurality of opening locations.

    摘要: An example method includes performing a machining operation by providing linear movement of a tool along a feed axis relative to a workpiece while superimposing oscillation of the tool onto the feed axis and providing rotation of the tool relative to the workpiece. During an optimization mode, the machining operation is performed on a first workpiece portion while providing the linear movement at an initial feed velocity, and sequentially superimposing the oscillating at a plurality of different frequencies. An optimal oscillation frequency is determined from the plurality of different frequencies which causes the tool to apply less force to the first workpiece portion at the initial feed velocity than others of the frequencies. During a run mode, the machining operation is performed on a second workpiece portion having a same composition as the first workpiece portion while superimposing the oscillation at the optimal oscillation frequency.

    摘要: A gemstone drill is of the drill press type which includes a motor suspended and slidably affixed between upstanding vertical telescoping rods. A drill bit is affixed to a spindle which is a direct extension of the motor shaft which is in parallel alignment with the rods. A body of the motor includes a cylindrical spindle housing extending downwardly from the bottom of the motor body adjacent the drill bit. The rods are extensible from tower sleeves mounted directly to a base which has a top support surface enclosed by a transparent containment cover. The door is moveable between open and closed positions to gain access to a clamping mechanism releasably attached to the support surface that holds the stone to be drilled. The containment cover, when closed, includes a circular aperture at the top which closely receives the spindle housing.
