摘要: A positive feed tool may include a motor, a gear head and a spindle. The gear head may be operably coupled to the motor and may include a drive assembly and a feed assembly. The spindle may be operably coupled to the gear head and may be selectively driven rotationally and fed axially based on operation of the drive assembly and the feed assembly, respectively. The feed assembly may include a feed rate oscillator having a fixed cam and a movable cam operably coupled to each other via a plurality of rolling elements to oscillate between a maximum width and a minimum width of the feed rate oscillator based on a position of the movable cam. The rolling elements alternate between a first state in which at least some of the rolling elements are unloaded and a second state in which all of the rolling elements are loaded.

The combination of the inclination of the first plate and the eccentricity of the center of rotation of the second plate makes it possible to create an oscillation in the spindle while it rotates.

摘要: A drilling machine of the woodpecker type employs a spindle carrying a drill. The spindle is mounted for rotation in a housing having an attached feed screw and those members form an assembly that can be axially moved while the spindle rotates to enable the drill to be fed toward and retracted away from the work. The feed screw is engaged by a nut whose position is controlled by a rapid traverse mecahnism which can rapidly retract the spindle away from the work and can rapidly advance the spindle toward the work. The rapid traverse mechanism holds the nut fixed in position in the interval between rapid advance and rapid retraction. A peck feed mechanism is connected to the feed screw and repetitively feeds the spindle toward the work by causing the feed screw to progressively advance into the nut in the intervals when the nut is fixed in position. A hitch feed is coupled to the feed screw and acts to prevent the drill from bottoming in the hole on rapid advance. A trigger mechanism is arranged to be fired upon drilling of the hole to a predetermined depth. Upon firing, the trigger mechanism causes the feed screw to be disengaged from the hitch feed and from the peck feed mechanism whereby the feed screw is enabled to return to a starting position relative to the nut.

摘要: In one aspect, a swiss-type machine tool is provided that includes a workpiece holding shaft, a workpiece supporting shaft, and a tool holder associated with the workpiece supporting shaft for holding at least one tool. The machine tool includes a drive operable to rotate the workpiece holding shaft and the workpiece supporting shaft around an axis. The workpiece holding shaft has a work holder configured to secure a workpiece to the workpiece holding shaft. The workpiece holding shaft is axially shiftable relative to the workpiece supporting shaft to adjust a position of the workpiece relative to the workpiece supporting shaft. The machine tool further includes a removable workpiece support, such as a guide bushing, configured to be releasably connected to the workpiece supporting shaft and rotate therewith. The workpiece support slidably contacts the workpiece and permits axial movement of the workpiece relative to the workpiece support.
