摘要: A color-changeable cement composition for dental use is disclosed, which comprises a first component comprising a metal oxide as a major ingredient, and a second component which can react with the first component to form a set body, wherein the composition contains a substance which changes its color tone with the change in pH so that the color tone of the cement composition can change upon intital setting of the cement composition. The composition enables one to visually observe the degree of setting of the cement composition.

摘要: Dental restorations are prepared by preparing a cavity within a carious tooth for receiving a dental amalgam filling;Coating the surfaces of the cavity with a layer of an adhesive-metal lining composition, the metal of the composition being characterized by the capability of being amalgamated by diffusion of the mercury from a subsequently applied dental amalgam filling, and which is further characterized by a corrosion resistance which is higher than the corrosion resistance of the subsequently applied dental amalgam filling; and packing the remaining adhesive-metal coated cavity with Ag-Hg-Sn dental amalgam, whereby free mercury present in the amalgam is diffused into, and amalgamates with the metal of the adhesive-metal lining coating, so as to form an integral restoration of the dental amalgam and the coating, and the adhesive effectively promotes bonding between the integral restoration and the cavity surfaces.

摘要: A method for attaching a tooth crown to a parallel or non-parallel tooth root system or single rooted tooth in one form comprising the following steps:A. drilling a pin-mated hole in one or each of the root filled tooth roots to be used for fixation of the crown to the desired diameter or length and in the direction of the root canal;B. inserting headed impression pins into the prepared holes;C. taking an accurate impression of the tooth concerned with the headed impression pins in position in the tooth to their full depth;D. pouring up an accurate stone die on the said impression;E. removing the impression pins from the die and inserting the matching final retentive pin to be used into the hole provided;F. positioning a tube or sleeve adjusted to the correct length over the said final retentive pin; the said tube or sleeve having a melting point substantially greater than that of the metal to be used for the casting of the crown;G. waxing up the desired shape of the requisite casting around the said tube or sleeve;H. removing the final retentive pin from the root canal holes through the tube or sleeve;I. sprewing the wax pattern and casting the said pattern in the desired material around the said high melting point sleeves or around the said graphite rods or the dissolve out tubes or oxidizable rods;J. dissolving out the tubes or drill out the graphite rods within the casting where necessary, depending on the technique used;Or cleaning the investment out of the sleeves within the casting prior to adjustment and polishing in the laboratory;K. locating the casting in position on the tooth root and passing the final retentive pins through each of said sleeves into the root canals;L. cementing the pins in position through the sleeves and into the root canals described above;M. cementing a crown over the core described above.

摘要: This invention provides an adhesion promoter composition, comprising: a primer composition comprising an oxidant having an oxidation potential greater than the absolute value of the E.sup.O reductant of the adherend and optionally a solvent; and an adhesive composition. This invention also provides a method of adhering a restorative material to an amalgam substrate, comprising the steps of: applying a primer composition and an adhesive to an amalgam substrate; hardening the adhesive; and optionally overcoating the adhesive with a restorative material. These methods and materials have utility for applications that require adhesion to existing dental amalgams including, for example, the esthetic veneering of an amalgam restorative with a composite restorative material, and the repair or modification of old amalgam restorations with a fresh amalgam or with a composite restorative material.

摘要: A gallium alloy for dental restorations which is hardenable at mouth temperature or around 37.degree. C. or more after triturating multicomponent liquid gallium alloy with alloy powder, is disclosed. The mixture has a heterogeneous structure after hardening, and contains as the overall composition, 9-47% gallium, 1-35% indium, 0.2-38% tin and 1-68% silver as indispensable components and one or more elements selected from 0.4-35% palladium, 0.5-25% copper and 0.4-12% zinc as arbitrary components. The multicomponent liquid gallium alloy contains 45-85% gallium, 5-40% indium and 1-30% tin as fundamental components and small amounts one or more elements selected from silver, palladium, gold, platinium, copper, zinc and germanium as arbitrary components. The alloy powder contains 1-85% silver and two or more elements selected from 1-40% tin, 1-40% palladium, 1-30% copper, 1-15% zinc and 1-25% indium. Also, the alloy powder is used with one or more single metal powder selected from palladium, platinium, gold, silver, copper and tin and/or powdered alloy containing one or more of said metals in which said single metal powder and said powdered alloy consist of a spherical or near spherical-irregular particle shape having particle size different from those of said alloy powder or a flat or flaky particle shape.

摘要: A dental anchor magazine housing a dental anchor therein is disclosed, where the dental anchor is for anchoring a superstructure to a tooth. The dental anchor includes threaded sections and an L-shaped manipulating end section joined together by frangible reduced thickness portions. The dental anchor magazine includes a body member having a conical front end, and a square shaped rear end for rotating the magazine about its longitudinal axis. A centrally located passageway extends longitudinally through the body member to receive the dental anchor therein. A slot extends transversely through the body member into communication with the passageway for longitudinal movement of the manipulating section of the dental anchor therein. A pair of notches are provided in the wall of the slot for receiving the manipulating section of the dental anchor to prevent movement of the dental anchor towards the rear end when the forward end of the dental anchor is being initially threaded into a channel of a tooth, where the forward end of the dental anchor extends outwardly from the front end of the body member when being threaded into the channel. The square shaped rear end of the body member is engageably received in either a manual holder for manual rotation thereof or a handpiece holder for power rotation thereof by a dental handpiece. Both the manual holder and the handpiece holder include a pin member for advancing the manipulating section to a first one of the notches.
