Abstract: Systems and methods for rapidly assessing biocide contamination and biological contamination treatments found in fluids used for subterranean well treatments and related operations are provided. In some embodiments, the methods include providing a fluid including an aqueous base fluid and one or more microorganisms; introducing a first sample of the fluid to a first culture device including an indicator reagent, wherein over a period of about 48 hours or less the indicator reagent indicates a first color change in the first sample of the fluid; and determining a first count of the microorganisms in the fluid based, at least in part, on the first color change.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an insect control composition comprising geraniol, at least 0.005 wt. % of pyrethrum, based on the total weight of the composition, optionally at least one active selected from the group consisting of p-Menthane-3,8-diol, peppermint oil, thymol, eucalyptus oil, citronella oil, basil oil, citral, lemongrass oil, and combinations thereof, and a solvent; wherein the weight ratio between the geraniol to the pyrethrum and optionally the at least one active is between 0.25:1 and 50:1. The invention further relates to an insect control product comprising said insect control composition and an emanation device. The invention also relates to a use of said insect control composition or said insect control product to kill, knockdown and/or repel insects.

Abstract: A method for removing or preventing a microbial growth, biofilm, biomass and/or mineral deposit on a hard surface inside an SO2 scrubber is disclosed. In particular, biocide compositions may be dosed in pulse or continuously for the reduction and prevention of biofilms on the hard surfaces inside an SO2 scrubber. A biocide composition disclosed here uses one or more non-oxidizing biocides, especially a mixture of one or more quaternary ammonium compounds and one or more other biocides.

Abstract: Disclosed are compositions comprising a) an antimicrobial agent, which is selected from the group consisting of biocides containing halogen atoms and/or containing phenolic moieties, formic acid, chlorine dioxide, chlorine dioxide generating compounds, dialdehydes; components containing an antimicrobial metal such as antimicrobial silver, and b) a polyamine, especially a polyethylenimine. The polyamine is effective as a booster for the antimicrobial agent.
