摘要: A workflow to optimize a fracturing fluid for injection into a subterranean formation is provided. The workflow comprises measurement of fundamental properties and characteristics of reservoir rock and fluid, their interaction with fracturing fluid, computer-based models and laboratory performance testing to select preferred fracturing base fluid and additives package for use in fracturing/re-fracturing stimulation of specific shale formations to enhance hydrocarbon recovery.

摘要: This disclosure describes formulations and methods for stimulating the production from wells in nano-darcy shale formations. In one embodiment, the method includes injecting a treatment mixture containing a metal complexing agent into a nano-darcy shale formation adjacent to a well at a pressure below the fracture pressure of the formation. A sufficient contact time is allowed and then the treatment mixture is pumped from the subsurface. This has been shown to stimulate well production in shale formations. Without being held to a particular theory it appears that the metal complexing agent is binding with naturally occurring metals in the shale formation, and particularly divalent metal ions, which are then extracted with the spent fluid. This removal of naturally occurring metals may be increasing the permeability of the formation in the contact region adjacent to the well, thereby causing the observed increased production.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for the autonomous generation of safe self-limiting concentrations of chlorine dioxide for the treatment of process water. The method comprises a system that is self-limiting such that variations in water flow-rate and/or feed-rate of chlorite donor does not allow for increased concentrations of chlorine dioxide. The effluent concentration from the system does not exceed 3000 ppm thereby providing a means of generating chlorine dioxide for use where remote applications and/or where unskilled personnel are involved.

摘要: Methods of fracturing a subterranean formation include introducing a fracturing fluid containing an aqueous medium, a viscosifying agent and a polyethylene oxide alkyl ether through a wellbore and into the subterranean formation, pressurizing the fracturing fluid to fracture the subterranean formation, and allowing the fracturing fluid to flow back into the wellbore from the subterranean formation. The polyethylene oxide alkyl ether useful in some embodiments is defined according to the formula: where R1 and R2 are independently selected from linear or branched alkyl groups having from 2 to 16 carbon atoms, and ‘n’ may be a value selected from within a range of from 1 to 100.

摘要: Certain particulates of encapsulated treatment chemicals, and methods of and systems for their use in subterranean formations, are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise: providing a plurality of treatment particulates, at least one of which comprising a polymer matrix that comprises and/or encages at least one treatment chemical and a coating disposed around an outer surface of the polymer matrix; and introducing the treatment particulates into a well bore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation.

摘要: A well treatment material for introduction into a subterranean formation is provided. The well treatment material can include a biocide collected onto a sorbent. The biocide can be capable of being desorbed at a generally constant rate over an extended period of time into the subterranean formation. The biocide can be an oxidizing biocide or a non-oxidizing biocide. The sorbent material can include one or more of an absorbent material and an adsorbent material. The biocide can be chlorine dioxide. The sorbent can be one or more of silica gel and graphite.
