Abstract: The subject invention provides microbe-based products, as well as their use to improve oil production and refining efficiency by, for example, remediating the disposable layers in oil tanks and other oil storage units. In preferred embodiments, the microbe-based products comprise biochemical-producing yeast and growth by-products thereof, such as, e.g., biosurfactants. The subject invention can be used to remediate rag layer and/or other dissolved solid layers that form in water-oil emulsions. Furthermore, the subject invention can be used for remediating solid impurities, such as sand, scale, rust and clay, in produced water, flow-back, brine, and/or fracking fluids.

Abstract: A scale inhibitor fluid includes 0.001 ppm to 100 ppm of a phosphonate compound, 20 ppm to 400 ppm of a cation-containing surfactant, and an aqueous fluid. The cation-containing surfactant includes at least one of a single positively charged cation-containing surfactant, a double positively charged cation-containing surfactant and a zwitterionic cation-containing surfactant. A method for inhibiting scale formation in a wellbore includes introducing a phosphonate compound, a cation-containing surfactant and an aqueous fluid to the wellbore to produce a scale inhibitor fluid.

Abstract: Working fluids, such as drilling fluids, may remove heat from other fluids, tools, equipments and environments and transfer it to other locations by using reversible phase change elements. The heat removal occurs through the absorption of heat by one or more phase transitions or a sequence of phase transitions in the elements of the working fluid. For instance, heat is absorbed when the phase change portions of the reversible phase change elements change phase including, but not necessarily limited to, a change from solid to smectic liquid crystal, from solid to nematic liquid crystal, from smectic liquid crystal to isotropic liquid, from nematic liquid crystal to isotropic liquid, from solid to isotropic liquid, and sequences and combinations thereof. Heat is released when the phase change reverses. These phase changes are first-order transitions and are associated with a latent heat or enthalpy.

Abstract: A method and system for generating an ionized fluid, injecting the ionized fluid into fissures in a subterranean formation, pressurizing the ionized fluid, whereby the crystalline structure of a portion of the shale deposits located at the fissures are changed into suspended particles, whereby the depressurization of the ionized fluid forces the suspended particles out of the fissures, increasing the flow of hydrocarbons from those fissures.

Abstract: Drilling fluid compositions may include a weighting agent, a nitrite-containing compound, and an ammonium-containing compound, where the nitrite-containing compound and the ammonium-containing compound may be encapsulated together in copolymer micro-particles forming encapsulated thermochemical compounds, and where at least one property selected from the group consisting of the density, the plastic viscosity, the yield point, the gel strength, and the pH, of the drilling fluid composition may be substantially similar to the at least one property of a comparable drilling fluid composition devoid of the encapsulated thermochemical compounds. Methods for reducing a filter cake from a wellbore surface in a subterranean formation are also provided. The methods may include introducing into the wellbore the drilling fluid compositions, allowing the drilling fluid composition to reach a temperature in the wellbore sufficient for the encapsulated thermochemical compounds to react, where the reaction of the encapsulated thermochemical compounds generates heat and nitrogen gas.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the autonomous generation of safe self-limiting concentrations of chlorine dioxide for the treatment of process water. The method comprises a system that is self-limiting such that variations in water flow-rate and/or feed-rate of chlorite donor does not allow for increased concentrations of chlorine dioxide. The effluent concentration from the system does not exceed 3000 ppm thereby providing a means of generating chlorine dioxide for use where remote applications and/or where unskilled personnel are involved.
