    摘要: Homozygouse knock-out mice lacking the Aiolos gene are shown to exhibit multiple phenotypes in common with humans suffering from the autoimmune disease Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). When Aiolos null/null mice are crossed with homozygous knock out mice lacking the OBF-1 transcription factor gene, resultant double knock out mice lack all signs of SLE. Methods of screening for agents active against autoimmune diseases, for example SLE are provided. In vitro methods include screening for antagonists of OBF-1, screening for agents which inhibit binding of OBF-1 to oct-1 or oct-2, screening for agonists or antagonists of Aiolos protein and screening for agents which upregulate expression of Aiolos or downregulate expression of OBF-1. Also disclosed are methods of screening using knock-out mice and B cells from knock-out mice.

    摘要: A method of treating plant and animal systems and inanimate surfaces for the purposes of controlling plant pests, introducing pesticides and nutrients into plants, mitigating frost damage to plants, increasing crop yields, controlling certain plant diseases, controlling arthropod, bacterial, fungal, mycoplasma, rickettsia, and viral pests of animals and humans, and disinfecting inanimate surfaces. The method utilizes the unique multi-directional dispersion property of the tannate complex of picro ammonium formate and the tannate complex of picro cupric ammonium formate, in aqueous solution, combined with a minor amount of a surfactant sufficient to prevent formation of ammonium picrate, to penetrate plant and animal systems and inanimate surfaces and travelling multidirectionally therein. The method is carried out by introducing a small but effective amount of the tannate complex to the plant or animal system or inanimate surface.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a method for determining pharmaceutically active substances with the aid of test series, in which the action of a large number of different substances on one or more biological targets is tested and a hit list of those substances which actually or apparently have shown a pharmaceutical action on at least one biological target is prepared, whereupon a selection is made from the hits for more detailed investigations of pharmaceutical activity and/or applicability. In order to provide a method of the type stated at the outset, by means of which the success rate can be significantly increased, the following features are proposed: a) Determination of the chemical structure of the substances in the hit list, b) splitting of the structure of the substances into individual components or fragments, c) classification of the substances into groups having in each case identical and/or virtually identical or similar fragments, d) evaluation of the pharmacological activity of the various groups, e) comparison of the pharmacological activity of the various groups and f) selection of substances from those groups which, on the basis of the evaluation and of the comparison according to steps d and e, have the highest activity.
