    摘要: A safety relief valve (12) for a pressure vessel (10) in which the main valve member (28) includes a valve plate or disc (52) and a retainer plate (64) having a flexible membrane or diaphragm (62) stretched therebetween in a taut relation to provide a frusto-conical shape (FIG. 3) for obtaining bubble-tight sealing against valve seat (26). A fluid chamber (116) is provided between valve plate (52) and retainer plate (64) and inlet fluid pressure is communicated through opening (118) of jack screw (106) to the fluid chamber (116) for providing inlet fluid pressure thereto to force valve plate (52) and retainer plate (64) apart for tensioning of flexible membrane (62) into a frusto-conical shape. A jack screw (106) is threaded within a bushing (94) carried by retainer plate (64). Upon rotation of jack screw (106), valve plate (52) and retainer plate (64) are forced away from each other for tensioning flexible membrane (62) into a frusto-conical shape. The initial sealing of main valve member (28) is by contact of flexible membrane (62) with seat (26) and the sealing pressure increases as the inlet pressure increases due to differential pressure across the flexible membrane (62). The method of assembly includes the forcing of valve plate (52) and retainer plate (64) away from each other with manual adjusting means (106) to tension the flexible membrane (62) a predetermined amount into a frusto-conical shape.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing by welding a shaped workpiece, which is formed of a plastic material and which consists of a tubular part having a radial bore and a union weldable to the tubular part in a region of the radial bore, includes bringing an end face surface of the union into abutting engagement with an outer circumference of the tubular part in the region of the radial bore, and heating a circular region around the radial bore of the tubular part and the end face surface of the union by heat radiation, with subsequent pressing of the two parts against each other. The apparatus for implementing the method includes first and second clamping devices for supporting the union and the tubular part, respectively, with the second clamping device having a support member having a shape corresponding to an inner profile of the tubular part, and a pin supported in the support member for displacement in a direction transverse to a longitudinal axis of the support member, and a heating device for heating the two parts.

    摘要: A fluid pressure regulator of compact construction including an improved diaphragm-valve assembly interposed between a flow body and a second body cap element. The flow body has an inlet and outlet passage and a valve cavity with a centrally disposed ported valve insert to allow the regulated passage of fluid. Mounted to the flow body, the cap element confines a diaphragm of the diaphragm-valve assembly and houses an adjustable coil-spring biased against the assembly. The diaphragm-valve assembly includes a ring-shaped diaphragm element interlocated between a circular element central to the diaphragm and a diaphragm compression limiting clamp plate ring. The circular element has a central recess over the valve insert which houses a spring-backed self-aligning ball valve element having a flat chordal surface adjacent the insert. A convolute in the diaphragm element provides a more consistent effective area in relation to the valve stroke during operation improving pressure regulation and reducing stretching of the diaphragm preventing tearing, rupture or undesirable hysteresis.

    摘要: A gear pump includes a diaphragm-operated valve having a valve member adapted to close a control port. The valve member comprises a generally cupshaped housing, an elastomeric disc telescoped into the housing, and a sheet metal retainer plate which is pressed into the housing to hold the elastomeric disc therein. The retainer plate is formed with angularly spaced and radially projecting tabs which engage the housing to establish a tight fit between the plate and the housing. The retainer plate is formed by fine blanking a sheet of metal and, as a result of the fine blanking operation, axially projecting burrs are formed on the tabs. To prevent the burrs from piercing the diaphragm, a circumferentially extending relief groove is formed in the periphery of the retainer adjacent the tabs and results in the burrs being kept in spaced relation with the diaphragm.
