    Abstract: Disclosed are body panel strakes for improved vehicle aerodynamics, methods for making and methods for using such aerodynamic strakes, and motor vehicles employing aerodynamic strakes for reducing turbulent flow and developing higher static pressure at the rear of the vehicle. An underbody panel for a motor vehicle is disclosed. The motor vehicle includes a vehicle body with an undercarriage spanning between front and rear vehicle ends. The underbody panel includes a panel body that attaches to the vehicle body and covers a portion of the undercarriage. One or more elongated air strakes are attached to and project from the panel body. Each air strake includes an elongated body that extends longitudinally with respect to the vehicle and has an inboard-facing curvature. The air strake guides airflow traveling fore-to-aft along the undercarriage in an inboard direction to thereby increase static pressure on the rear end of the vehicle.

The spoiler body is movably mounted on the spoiler receptacle between the retracted position in which the spoiler body is received at least partially in the spoiler receptacle and the extended position in which the spoiler body is extended at least partially out of the spoiler receptacle.

    Abstract: An active spoiler system for a vehicle includes a spoiler body having an airfoil shape in a cross-sectional view. The vehicle includes a vehicle body arranged along a longitudinal body axis and having a first vehicle body end configured to face oncoming ambient airflow and an opposing second vehicle body end. The spoiler body is configured to be moveably mounted between the first vehicle body end and the second vehicle body end to generate an aerodynamic downforce on the vehicle body when the vehicle is in motion. The spoiler system also includes a first mechanism configured to selectively translate the spoiler body along the longitudinal body axis to thereby adjust along the longitudinal body axis a location of the aerodynamic downforce generated by the spoiler body.

    Abstract: A vehicle bottom structure includes heat shield plate, which is arranged between a vehicle component and an exhaust pipe, and two undercovers, which are arranged on the opposite sides of the exhaust pipe in the vehicle width direction. The heat shield plate has a covering portion, two heat-shield-plate fastened portions, and two heat-shield-plate coupling portions. The covering portion covers the exhaust pipe. The heat-shield-plate fastened portions are each fastened to the corresponding one of the undercovers. The heat-shield-plate coupling portions each couple a corresponding lower end of the covering portion to the corresponding one of the heat-shield-plate fastened portions. Each heat-shield-plate coupling portion includes a section that has a shape that becomes higher toward the corresponding undercover in the vehicle width direction. The heat-shield-plate fastened portions are each located above the corresponding lower end of the covering portion.
