摘要: Systems for removing one or more contaminants from water are provided that can include a hydrate formation chamber assembly; a contaminated water diffusion assembly within the hydrate formation chamber assembly; a space between a wall of the hydrate formation chamber assembly and the diffusion assembly; and a guest compound conduit configured to provide a guest compound within the space and form a hydrate comprising water and the guest compound. Methods for removing one or more contaminants from water are provided that can include providing a contaminated water mixture and one or more guest compounds; forming a hydrate complex comprising water and the one or more guest compounds; and separating the water from the guest compounds to provide water with less contaminant. Mixtures are also provided that can include a liquid component comprising water and at least one contaminant, and a solid component comprising a hydrate complex. One embodiment of the system provides methods for production of excess electric power as a byproduct of the desalination process.

摘要: Condensing apparatuses and their use in various heat and mass exchange systems are generally described. The condensing apparatuses, such as bubble column condensers, may employ a heat exchanger positioned external to the condensing vessel to remove heat from a bubble column condenser outlet stream to produce a heat exchanger outlet stream. In certain cases, the condensing apparatus may also include a cooling device positioned external to the vessel configured and positioned to remove heat from the heat exchanger outlet stream to produce a cooling device outlet stream. The condensing apparatus may be configured to include various internal features, such as a vapor distribution region and/or a plurality of liquid flow control weirs and/or chambers within the apparatus having an aspect ratio of at least 1.5. A condensing apparatus may be coupled with a humidifier to form part of a desalination system, in certain cases.

摘要: A system and process for decontaminating a bio-contaminated wastewater fluid as from a slaughterhouse or similar facility. The system and process recovers purified vapor/steam through a decontamination unit having a plurality of alternating rotating trays and fixed baffles in a processing vessel producing separate purified and contaminant streams. One or more filter/strainer units are disposed in parallel before the decontamination unit, and may be used alternately while the other is cleaned. A rotating shaft connected to the rotating trays may also connected to an electrical generator to provide electricity for circuits and controls in the system.

The power generation section includes a first tank, a second tank, and a first channel. The desalination section includes a third tank, a fourth tank, and a second channel. The system utilizes waste energy in power plants to desalinate water and generate power. The disclosed system is able to improve the performance of power plants, by utilizing the wasted power of the exit steam, to desalinate seawater and even generate electricity. The disclosed system alleviates requirements for cooling towers and introduces thermal exchange tanks, radiators, and sprinkles instead of cooling towers.

摘要: A device for purifying and/or concentrating a first water stream containing ionic impurities includes a first and second ion exchange membrane and a first porous membrane. The ion exchange membranes have the same charge, and a channel into which the first water stream can be directed is defined between the first and second ion exchange membranes. The channel has an inlet end and a return flow end and comprises a first and second outlet. The inlet and at least the first outlet are located on the inlet end of the channel and are separated by the first porous membrane that traverses the length of the channel between the ion exchange membranes and terminates at a return flow zone that is at least partially closed. At least part of the first water stream flows through the first porous membrane, joining a first return flow stream.
