Abstract:
A radio communication apparatus includes a main telephone connected to a digital line network and a plurality of sub telephones each being capable of performing a radio communication to the main telephone. The main telephone includes a memory for storing a subaddress and a direct dial-in number of each of the plurality of sub telephones, and an unit for, upon receiving an incoming signal transmitted from the digital line network, detecting a subaddress or a direct dial-in number included in the incoming signal, discriminating a sub telephone associated with the detected subaddress or direct dial-in number in accordance with the data stored in the memory, and transmitting the incoming signal to the discriminated sub telephone.
Abstract:
To allocate telecommunication channels of different channel capacity, e.g. the ISDN D channel and DECT channels to one another (e.g. simulation of the ISDN channel structure by the DECT channel structure) with good (economic) utilization of the bandwidth and minimum technical complexity in a hybrid telecommunication system, particularly an “ISDN DECT-specific RLL/WLL” system, a DECT-specific Cs channel and a DECT-specific Cf channel are used in dependence on the amount of information transmitted on the ISDN D channel for transmitting information in the hybrid telecommunication system.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an interface for interfacing between two different types of networks, such as a GSM cellular radio network and an integrated services digital network (ISDN). The interface communicates between channels of one such network with channels of the other such network by mapping control information between the first (D) and second (Dm) control channels. In a first state of operation, the interface maps data between the first (B1, B2) and the second (Bm) data channels under the control of control information on the control channels. In a second state of operation, the interface maps data between the first control channel (D) and the second data channel (Bm) under the control of control information on the control channel.
Abstract:
In order to design a cellular cordless telecommunications system which makes it possible to implement a large number of performance features, for example synchronization, roaming, handover, internal links, hold, check-back, transfer etc. in the cellular cordless telecommunications system without any additional wire link between the cordless base stations in the cellular cordless telecommunications system, the cordless base stations are connected to an S0 bus (i.e., a basic access line for a multi-device configured system).
Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention includes a plurality of portable satellite terminals (PSTs) and a network control unit (NCU) in mutual communication by a communications satellite. Integrated services digital network (ISDN) basic rate interfaces (BRI) are provided at each PST and NCU such that commercially available equipment may be connected and link access procedure D-channel (LAPD) protocols are supported end-to-end. CCITT Recommendation V.42 link access procedure-modem (LAPM) with the selective frame reject option is used to carry whole LAPD frames within the information fields of LAPM frames over the satellite link. Protocol conversion units are employed at each PST and NCU to convert LAPD to LAPM and back again.
Abstract:
A method and a system for receiving streaming media from an external provider onboard a moving vehicle via wireless communication is disclosed. The method includes: checking, upon a request from a client device to obtain a streaming media from said external provider, whether a segment of said streaming media is available in the cache or not; forwarding, when a segment of the requested streaming media is available in the cache, the segment of the streaming media object to the client device from the cache; downloading, when the segment of the requested streaming media is not available in the cache, the segment of the streaming media object from the external server, and forwarding the downloaded segment to the client device, and storing the segment in the cache.
Abstract:
A local ISDN transmission system has a central base station and a number of subscriber radio terminals greater than the number of communication channels. The system is connectable to subscriber ports through an S.sub.0 wireless transmission interface and is responsive to an activation request from a subscriber radio terminal for opening any available and free communication channel for a communication. An intermediate generator in the base station and in each subscriber terminal divides an ISDN two-wire subscriber connection line between a line termination section and a network termination section communicating by radio transmission. The intermediate generator, upon the occurrence of an activation request by a subscriber terminal, allocates a communication channel within waiting and monitoring periods for the activation of the ISDN two-wire subscriber connecting line. A delay system delays the activation request by a delay period sufficient to switch the allocated communication channel and activate a radio system of the subscriber terminal.

Abstract:
A method and system for wireless communication between a moving vehicle and a remote server through at least one external mobile network are disclosed. The at least one exterior mobile network provides at least two concurrently useable data links. The method includes: providing at least one router in the moving vehicle for receiving and transmitting wireless data communication to and from a stationary communication server outside the moving vehicle through the at least one exterior mobile network; evaluating the quality of the data links on a host layer by repeatedly sending requests arranged to trigger a determinable automated response to the stationary communication server via the data links, and measure the time until the triggered automated responses are received; and assigning data streams to the data links at least partly based on the evaluated quality.
