Abstract:
Embodiments of an apparatus and methods for selecting a communication line from two or more lines on a communication device are described herein. The communication device comprises a display module, an input module, a line selection module, and a communication module for making a call over a network to a target recipient. In one broad aspect, a determination of which of the communication lines is a communication line associated with the one of two or more message addresses at which a message is received is made in the selection of a communication line accessible at the communication device on which an outgoing call may be placed.
Abstract:
A system, method and computer program product are provided. Included is a cellular phone capable of communicating via a long-range cellular network protocol and a short-range protocol. Further included is a system capable of communicating via a long-range hard-line network protocol and the short-range protocol. Thus, when the cellular phone is in the proximity of the system, the cellular phone communicates with the system utilizing the short-range protocol, so that the cellular phone is used to communicate via the long-range hard-line communication network protocol.

Abstract:
Methods to create a cellular-like communication system, such as a Wireless Private Branch Exchange (WPBX), which includes mobile devices such as standard cordless phones (handsets), particularly, mobile devices utilizing the Bluetooth short-range wireless communication protocol. The methods provide seamless and reliable handoff of sessions between Base Stations while the mobile device is moving between picocells, by implementing a high-level of synchronization between the Base Stations and the Switch. Base Stations of picocells having small coverage areas communicate with the handsets. The communication protocol is divided into a low-level protocol performed by the Base Stations and a high-level protocol performed by the Switch connected to all the Base Stations. The methods support mobile computing or telephony devices and communication protocols, which are not specified to handle handoffs of sessions while moving between Base Stations coverage areas in a data, voice or telephony wireless network.
Abstract:
The invention solves the problem of reducing interference in simultaneous wireless LAN (WLAN) and Bluetooth signal handling, especially in voice over IP communications via a WLAN telephone to a Bluetooth headset. The invention sets up a voice link between the terminal and the headset by establishing sniff anchor points in the ACL link for assigning relative priorities to the WLAN and Bluetooth ACL packet traffic. A higher priority is assigned to WLAN packet traffic when it collides with original Bluetooth ACL packet traffic during a sniff anchor point. Thereafter, a higher priority is assigned to the terminal's retransmission of aborted Bluetooth ACL packets and the headset's response ACL packets in available Bluetooth slots following the anchor point.
Abstract:
A system and method for realizing a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) by using the Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication (DECT), wherein the Voice Over Internet Protocol is realized through Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication, and a seamless handoff between intradomain and interdomain, and roamings in intradomain and interdomain are achieved through mobile agents. In order to achieve the above-mentioned objective, Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication is utilized to register with a session initiation protocol (SIP) proxy. When Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication is on-line for communication, the calling signals or the real-time transport protocol (RTP) data packets are processed through the mobile agents and are then transmitted. In making the intra-domain roamings, the mobile agent is used to redirect the signals directly; while making the inter-domain roamings, the signals are processed by the mobile agent through a tunnel between the mobile agents.

Abstract:
A cordless slave apparatus is connected to a host apparatus connected to lines via wireless communications. When the cordless slave apparatus is picked up from a charging apparatus to respond to a call from any of the lines, if the line at which the call has arrived has been selected by the cordless slave apparatus, the line is connected immediately and communications can start. If the line is not selected by the cordless slave apparatus, when a connection instruction from the user is provided, the line is connected and communications can start. When calls have arrived from lines simultaneously, communications can start by capturing a line according to a connection instruction. When a call from another line has arrived during communications, the lines are switched according to a switching instruction from the user and the line through which the communications have been performed is automatically turned to be on hold.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for expanding a mobile wireless telephony with minimal changes or modifications to an existing and installed wire-line telephony infrastructure that comprises a wireless base station that periodically transmits a wireless signal to initiate and maintain a wireless network. The wireless base station couples a wired signal to a wired telephone network. At least one RF enabled device is responsive to the wireless signal from the wireless base station to form the wireless network and provide the wired signal for coupling to the wired telephone network.
Abstract:
The present invention is a system of at least a mobile wireless device and multiple communications paths from it to a target device, where the communications paths are through wireless intervening transmitters whose physical locations are used to determine a preferred path. A preferred system is one operating with a most direct physical path between the mobile device and the target device among the available communications paths.
