Abstract: A transmission method includes: dividing a picture into a plurality of regions; generating a plurality of pieces of encoded data that respectively correspond to the plurality of regions by encoding the plurality of regions such that each of the plurality of regions can be decoded independently; packetizing the generated plurality of pieces of encoded data into a plurality of packets such that pieces of encoded data for different regions are not stored in a single packet; and transmitting the plurality of packets. By this, workload for generation of decoding target data is reduced.

Abstract: Disclosed are web-based systems and methods for editing digital videos. A graphical editing interface allows designating one or more videos to assemble into a video compilation. The graphical editing interface further allows specifying the portion of a constituent video of the video compilation that will be displayed when the video compilation is played. The graphical editing interface additionally allows the association of annotations—specifying, for example, slides, people, and highlights—with portions of the video. The associated annotations alter the appearance of the video compilation when it is played, such as by displaying slides, or text associated with the annotations, along with the video at times associated with the annotations. The associated annotations also enhance the interactivity of the video compilation, such as by allowing playback to begin at points of interest, such as portions of the video for which there is an associated annotation. The associated annotations can be created by selection of annotation tools of the graphical editing interface, where at least one of the annotation tools is created responsive to a user providing information associated with the tool.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques for incorporating full-resolution frames in a coding order and corresponding thumbnail images of a motion video into compressed video data. A device to compress video frames includes a processor component; and a compression component for execution by the processor component to intersperse at least one compressed thumbnail frame (T-frame) among multiple compressed full-resolution frames of a motion video arranged in a coding order in a compressed video data, the T-frame comprising multiple thumbnail images of the motion video in compressed form. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: An electronic device is provided and includes a camera configured to obtain an image, and a location information sensor configured to obtain (or sense) a current location of the electronic device. The electronic device further includes a direction information sensor configured to obtain (or sense) direction information about a direction in which the camera obtains the image and a memory configured to store information about the current location. A processor configured to operatively connect with the location information sensor, the direction information sensor, and the memory, may be further configured to obtain map information corresponding to the current location and arrange and display an orientation of the obtained map information with an orientation corresponding to the direction information. The processor may be configured to output the obtained map information together with a live video obtained by the camera.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for improving channel browsing experience for users by control scroll rates in guide listings are described. A user can scroll through channel listings arranged according to program genre at a high maximum scroll rate. The scroll rate is automatically reduced, and in some embodiments scrolling is temporarily paused, when listings corresponding to a new genre are displayed. In this way a high maximum scroll rate can be supported but without the risk of a user unintentionally scrolling thorough an entire genre of programs of interest even if the genre only includes one or a few programs in total. Thus, in various embodiments a scrolling rate is decreased when a change in the genre of programs from a first genre of programs being displayed to a second genre of programs being displayed occurs as part of said scrolling.

Abstract: A system and method for incorporating one or more additional video objects into input video data to produce output video data. A method includes retrieving the input video data, analyzing the input video data to identify one or more desired visual attributes for the one or more additional video objects to possess when incorporated into the input video data, creating instructions for generating additional video data comprising the one or more additional video objects having the one or more desired visual attributes and transmitting at least the instructions to a first remote system that has already received at least part of the input video data, the instructions being useable by the remote system to generate the additional video data for incorporation into the input video data.
