摘要: Embodiments described herein include systems and methods for managing electrical power among various energy generation, storage, and consumption systems, including micro-grids or nano-grids. Computing systems and electrical hardware send and receive electrical power, to or from various energy storage, transfer, and consumption sites, particularly where certain nano-grids are not electrically wired to the energy generation and storage subsystems. A grid adapter receives energy from various sources, reduces noise in the electrical waveform (e.g., harmonics), and determines an amount of power to deliver to nano-grids via electrical connections or delivery vehicles to achieve acceptable operation according to grid codes or other operational configurations. A storage system may include a flow battery that exchanges electricity, based on required power or surplus power, with delivery vehicles according to an electrolyte swap for the flow battery.

摘要: Distributed grid intelligence can enable a virtual power grid. Multiple consumer nodes can have local power sources, and be coupled to a same point of common coupling (PCC). The consumer nodes can be controlled by distributed control nodes at the consumer nodes. The control nodes control the distribution of power from the local power sources based on local power demand of each respective consumer node, and also based on distribution of power from the other respective control node. Thus, consumer nodes can share power generated locally, but operate independently without the need for central management or a central power plant.

摘要: A rapid shutdown system and a method for controlling the rapid shutdown system are provided. A disturbance is applied to a direct-current side of an inverter in the rapid shutdown system only when the inverter does not meet a starting condition, i.e., before the inverter starts. Once meeting the starting condition, the inverter normally operates. A shutdown device in the rapid shutdown system determines its state by determining whether the electrical signal at its output end meets the preset condition, and switches itself on or off in response to its determination.

摘要: The present application discloses systems and methods related to protection of a reactor in an alternating current (AC) electric power system. In one embodiment, a system may include a protective action subsystem to implement a protective action based on identification of a fault condition associated with a reactor. A frequency determination subsystem may determine when a frequency of the AC voltage is outside of a range defined by a lower threshold and an upper threshold and may identify a change in the frequency associated with de-energization of a line in electrical communication with the reactor. A supervisory subsystem may restrain implementation of the protective action when the frequency is outside of the range or when the change in the frequency is associated with de-energization of the line in electrical communication with the reactor.

摘要: A system for controlling and monitoring electrical energy loads includes a current transducer configured to monitor values of electrical current in the system, wherein neutral and ground lines are monitored via separate current transducers. Additionally, the system includes a centralized programmable logic controller (PLC) configured to receive measured values from the current transducer in real time and a local PLC configured to receive the measured values from the centralized PLC. Further, the local PLC periodically compares the measured values of the electrical energy with predetermined thresholds and automatically redistributes the electrical energy to electrical energy loads among three phases based on the comparison.

摘要: The invention provides a method and system for operating an inverter based distributed power generation source with energy storage system, as a Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) device—a STATCOM. The inverter based distributed power generation source can provide reactive power compensation, voltage regulation, damping enhancement, stability improvement and other benefits provided by FACTS devices. These STATCOM functions are provided when the said energy storage based distributed power generation source is doing at least one of: i) not exchanging active power with said power grid system, or ii) exchanging active power less than a maximum inverter capacity with said power grid system. The present invention thus provides a technological improvement that opens up a new set of applications and potential revenue earning opportunities for energy storage based distributed power generation sources other than simply from exchanging (injecting or absorbing) active power.

摘要: An integrated multi-port generator-rectifier device includes multiple passive output ports provided from a plurality of passive-rectifier windings on a common, single magnetic structure. The passive-rectifier windings interact with a plurality of magnetic poles. Coils in the passive rectifier windings are serially connected. Each of the passive rectifier windings has a pitch as that is a fraction of magnet pole pitch and a pattern to magnetically decouple back emf phases of the separate rectifiers. The device further includes an active port provided by an active rectifier.
