    摘要: A battery energy storage arranged to be connected to a capacitor link, which is connected in parallel to a power converter. The battery energy storage includes a battery module and a direct current energy source connected in series with a voltage source converter. The voltage source converter is adapted to insert a positive voltage when the voltage of the battery module falls below a first threshold value, and to insert a negative voltage when the voltage of the battery module exceeds a second threshold value. The direct current energy source is adapted to be either charged or discharged during the voltage insertion by the voltage source converter. The disclosure also provides a battery energy storage system including such battery energy storage.

    摘要: A multi-transformer unit is operative for converting an input AC voltage at a first voltage level to a net output AC voltage at a second voltage level. The multi-transformer unit can be used in place of a conventional transformer or an AC machine and is designed to suppress the transfer of harmonics between the input and output AC voltages. The unit comprises at least two phase-shifting transformers, each transformer being operative to provide a phase shift relative to the first voltage level. On the primary side of the unit the transformers are arranged for independent connection to the first voltage level, whereas on the secondary side of the unit the transformers are linked such that voltage vectors on the secondary side of the unit are added together to at least partially cancel the harmonic pollution and give the net output AC voltage. Moreover, the phase shift of the phase-shifting transformers may be selected to completely or substantially add into the net AC output voltage of the multi-transformer unit the fundamental voltage/frequency applied to its input AC voltage.

    摘要: A self-healing power grid control system includes a power grid having a plurality of network islands with a plurality of linear and non-linear loads. A plurality of control sensors communicate with the power grid to monitor the electrical characteristics of the power grid. A plurality of controlled relays are in electrical communication with the plurality of non-linear loads. A battery energy storage system (ESS) is in electrical communication with a main power source and a network island. A first restoration controller is in electrical communication with the control sensors, the controlled relays, and with the battery ESS. The first restoration controller receives control signals from the control sensors, and in response to detecting an irregularity in the power grid, automatically actuates the battery ESS to stabilize power to the linear loads, and disconnects selected controlled relays to disconnect power to a calculated percentage of the non-linear loads.

    摘要: A power flow controller seeks to inject a voltage V.sub.ser on a transmission path between a first electrical area and a second electrical area, in order to cause a desired power flow into the second electrical area. The power flow controller (20) includes a series transformer (40), a regulating transformer (44), a rotary phase shifting transformer network (44), and a control system (46). The rotary phase shifting transformer network (44) includes a first rotary phase shifting transformer (102.sub.1) and a second rotary phase shifting transformer (102.sub.2). The first rotary phase shifting transformer and the second rotary phase shifting transformer have first terminals (windings of one of either rotors or stators) connected in parallel to a regulating winding 62) of the regulation transformer. Second terminals (windings of the other of rotors or stators) are connected in series with an excited winding (52) of the series transformer. The control system applies control signals to the first rotary phase shifting transformer and the second rotary phase shifting transformer to obtain desired phase angles .theta..sub.E1, .theta..sub.E2 between the rotor (110) and stator (112) of each transformer, and thereby achieve an effective phase shift .theta..sub.PFC and a voltage magnitude ratio T.sub.PFC between the first electrical area and the second electrical area.
