    Abstract: A battery system includes a plurality of battery packs, each of the plurality of battery packs including a plurality of battery cells, a plurality of slave battery management systems (BMSs) managing the plurality of battery packs, each of the plurality of BMSs including a battery monitoring integrated circuit (BMIC), and a relay turned on when the BMIC operates, a plurality of first resistors between both ends of a power source, a plurality of second resistors, a third resistor connected between the power source and the plurality of first resistors, and a master BMS determining positions and a number of BMICs operating among the plurality of BMICs based on a sensing voltage obtained by dividing a voltage of the power source by at least one of the third resistor, the plurality of first resistors, and the plurality of second resistors.

    Abstract: A battery is provided that uses supercapacitors and battery cells connected by switches among themselves and to input and output terminals via multiplexed selection under the control of a microprocessor or microcontroller. The supercapacitors and battery cells of the battery may independently, or in combination, power an electric vehicle. The battery may be operated in several modes, at least one of which may be used to power an electric vehicle long enough to reach a charging station in connection with charge on the battery cells being partially or almost completely depleted. The battery may also deliver charge while the battery cells and/or the supercapacitors are being charged. The battery may be fast charging on-the-run in that the supercapacitors may be charged faster than the battery cells permitting an electric vehicle to be powered without spending considerable time, that would otherwise be required at a conventional charging station with traditional batteries.

    Abstract: A battery pack includes a monitoring device, at least one first switching element, an interface having a plurality of electrical contacts, and a measurement circuit. The monitoring device is configured to actuate the at least one first switching element, such that a charge or discharge current is interrupted or enabled via at least two of the electrical contacts of the plurality of electrical contacts. The measurement circuit is configured to convert a voltage value of a monitoring voltage into a measurement value of a measurement voltage in order to actuate the at least one first switching element. The monitoring device is configured to compare the measurement value with at least one first limit value and, when the limit value is exceeded or undershot, the monitoring device is configured to open the at least one first switching element.
