Abstract: Illuminated signal devices and speed detectors for audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices in accordance with various embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. In one embodiment, an illuminated signal device for providing a warning message of a passing vehicle is provided, the device comprising a speed detecting module, a communication module, and a processing module operatively connected to the speed detecting module and the communication module, the processing module comprising a processor, and a speed detecting application, wherein the speed detecting application configures the processor to detect motion of the passing vehicle using the speed detecting module, obtain speed data of the passing vehicle using the speed detecting module, and transmit the obtained speed data to a backend server, using the communication module, for providing the warning message of the passing vehicle to at least one social network.

Abstract: An approach is provided in which an information handling system detects a traffic infraction of a driver driving a vehicle. In turn, the information handling system forms an infraction detection zone that includes a set of traffic control devices, and sends a set of configuration parameters to the set of traffic control devices. The information handling system then uses vehicle identification data in the set of configuration parameters to identify driving behaviors of the driver through the infraction detection zone and issues a citation based upon the identified driving behaviors.

Abstract: Described herein is an onboard vehicle system capable of gathering driver behavior to be provided to a service provider computer. In some embodiments, the onboard vehicle system includes one or more input sensors, such as camera devices, configured to capture image information surrounding the onboard system. Upon detecting another vehicle within the image information, the onboard system may determine a vehicle identifier and determine, based on the vehicle's movements, that the vehicle is exhibiting anomalous behavior. Upon detecting anomalous behavior of a vehicle within its vicinity, the onboard system may transmit an indication of the anomalous behavior and a vehicle identifier to the service provider computer to be stored in a database. In some embodiments, the information provided to the service provider computer may be accessed by one or more users over a public network.

Abstract: Traffic signal control systems and methods in accordance with various embodiments of the invention are disclosed. One embodiment includes: at least one image sensor mounted with a bird's eye view of an intersection; memory containing a traffic optimization application and classifier parameters for a plurality of classifiers, where each classifier is configured to detect a different class of object; a processing system. In addition, the traffic optimization application directs the processing system to: capture image data using the at least one image sensor; search for pedestrians and vehicles visible within the captured image data by performing a plurality of classification processes based upon the classifier parameters for each of the plurality of classifiers; determine modifications to the traffic signal phasing based upon detection of at least one of a pedestrian or a vehicle; and send traffic signal phasing instructions to a traffic controller directing modification to the traffic signal phasing.

Abstract: The disclosed subject matter provides a digital sign with a video camera. The digital sign and video camera are connected via a communications medium to a central computer. The central computer provides a way of changing the images displayed on the digital sign and of disseminating the video from the video camera either through real time forwarding/viewing or recording the real time video stream and playing back the recorded video to a user. The central computer also provides a user interface where an authorized user, which would normally include an authorized governmental entity, can view the video stream and unilaterally interrupt the normally displayed image (or series of images) with an emergency notification message that would display on the digital sign.

The method includes: acquiring appearance information of an inspected vehicle; obtaining external features of the vehicle based on the appearance information; acquiring a transmission image of the vehicle and obtaining internal features of the vehicle from the transmission image; forming descriptions on the vehicle at least based on the external features and the internal features; and determining a vehicle model of the vehicle from a vehicle model databased by utilizing the descriptions. This method merges various types of modality information, especially introducing the transmission image, and combines the internal structure information with the appearance information, so that the present disclosure can identify a vehicle model more practically.
