摘要: A method and apparatus for cutting multi-ply layups of limp sheet material employs an automatically controlled machine with a knife blade and a controller for guiding the blade along cutting paths defined by a marker of pattern pieces. The marker contains a plurality of pattern pieces in a closely packed array which causes the pattern pieces and segments of the cutting paths to be in contact or in close proximity to one another, and makes accurate cutting difficult or impossible. Digitized data defining a cutting program for the marker is preprocessed in a data processor to identify critical segments of cutting paths where cutting difficulties may arise and introduces into the data remedial command signals that guide the cutting blade past the identified critical segments for more accurate cutting.

摘要: A computer controlled machine tool contouring system having a cutting element which is positioned relative to a workpiece support table. An actuating means controls the workpiece support table to synchronously rotate about a first axis and slide along a second axis in response to a set of control signals. The actuating means further controls the cutting element to translate along a third axis (the third axis being parallel to the first axis and perpendicular to the second axis) in response to a further set of control signals. The control signals are generated by a control means from stored data signals which are representative of the coordinates of points on the desired workpiece contour, the desired pressure angle of the cutting element at each contour point, the current radius of the cutting element, and the desired cutting element motion along the third axis. The control means includes (1) a mini-computer programmed to establish overall system control and to transform input data signals to suitable form for subsequent processing, (2) a high speed computation network for generating digital control signals for driving the actuating means, and (3) an interface unit for transferring digital control signals between the computer, computation network, machine tool and an operator station. The signal processing performed by the mini-computer and the computation network is arranged in accordance with a programmed algorithm to provide control signals for directing the actuating means to position the workpiece support table and cutting element in a manner to accommodate a cutting element having a changing radius due to wear. In addition, the control signals produce (in accordance with the programmed algorithm) directed movement of the contact point of the cutting element relative to a point on the workpiece contour at a predetermined surface velocity and feedrate.

摘要: When cutting a groove of a predetermined contour through a plate shaped workpiece with a fret saw blade, various program data regarding the direction of movements of the fret saw blade and the contour of the groove to be cut are stored in a memory device. The fret saw blade is moved in a direction instructed by the memory device and the orientation of the saw blade is controlled at the starting point of each segment of the groove.

The latter is displaceable with at least three degrees of freedom, preferably including angular displacement in two mutually perpendicular planes, while the workpiece and tool may be positioned mutually with at least two additional degrees of freedom. The workpiece is finished by fluid honing with a similarly orientable nozzle.

摘要: A numerically controlled machine tool comprises a work holding unit for holding a workpiece, and a tool capable of being moved along the Z-axis into a central bore formed in the workpiece. The tool has a shank and a cutting chip attached to the shank so as to project laterally from the shank. A driving mechanism controlled by a control unit moves the tool along a substantially circular path in an X-Y plane so that the cutting chip moves in a direction substantially coinciding with a tangent to the internal surface of the central bore of the workpiece at the point of contact of the cutting chip with the internal surface of the central bore.

Displaying a tree-type hierarchical menu and selecting one item of the lowest layer in the menu, resulting in selecting all related items in the hierarchical layers above it automatically.
