摘要: A method is provided for detecting drill bit wear. Vibratory data is collected during the drilling of a reference hole into a workpiece. An autoregressive model is applied to the vibratory data collected during the drilling of the reference hole to determine reference hole characteristic parameters for the drill bit. Vibratory data is then collected during the drilling of a subsequent hole into the workpiece. The autoregressive model is applied to the vibratory data, collected during the drilling of the subsequent hole to determine subsequent hole characteristic parameters for the drill bit. The reference hole characteristic parameters are compared with the subsequent hole characteristic parameters to detect drill bit wear between the time of drilling of the reference hole and the time of drilling of the subsequent hole.

摘要: A method of monitoring the performance of a tool which moves relative to a workpiece through a cycle and controlling the feed rate between the tool and the workpiece includes the steps of dividing the cycle into a plurality of increments, sensing a function of force applied to the tool during the increments, determining a mathematically smoothed function of force for the function of force for each sensed individual increment of the cycle and establishing a reference for the mathematically smoothed function of force for each of the sensed increments. The actual determined sensed mathematically smoothed function of force for a particular increment is compared with the established reference for that particular increment and a first signal is generated if the actual determined mathematically smoothed function of force deviates from the established reference. The feed rate between the tool and workpiece is modified in dependence upon the first signal.

摘要: A property of a signal may be detected by sampling a signal and determining a scalar indicator of the samples. The samples can be transformed to create a transformed signal. A scalar indicator of the transformed signal may be determined and compared to the scalar indicator of the sample. If the comparison yields a number greater than a selected threshold value then the signal that was sampled may be deemed to include the property. A property indicator signal may be driven low or high to indicate that the signal has the property. The time and duration of time that the signal is deemed to include the property may be recorded. The recorded data may be reviewed and appropriate action may be taken.

摘要: It is to be possible to monitor manufacturing devices, in particular main spindles (1), centrally and securely. For this purpose it is provided that the respective main spindle (1) transmits operating and status data to a monitoring organization (2) over the Internet (3) for example. The data can be monitored there on the basis of limit values for example. Manufacturers (4) and OEMs (5) are preferably automatically notified if limit values are exceeded. The transmission of the operating data to the central monitoring organization (2) does not take up any of the machine's own resources for status monitoring and the manufacturers (4) are notified only if necessary. The active sending of the data from the manufacturing device or main spindle unit (1) to the monitoring organization (2) increases data security.

摘要: A system is provided for predicting when the failure of a rotating machineool or part is imminent or when a tool is worn. The system includes a transducer for producing an output related to the workpiece vibrations caused by the machine tool and an analog comparator which compares this output with a threshold signal related to the normal operation of the tool and established by a microcomputer which determines whether further signals which exceed the threshold are produced during each of a predetermined number of subsequent time intervals related to the rotational speed of the tool. If so, a "failure" signal is produced which may be used, for example, to cause retraction of the tool.

摘要: An online real-time cutter breakage monitoring method uses a plurality of signals generated in three consecutive time periods by a vibration acceleration during a cutting process conducted by a CNC machine tool, and compares a difference between a maximum value of signals in each time period and an average value of the signals and a difference between the average value of signals thereafter and an idling critical value to output a first cutter breakage signal and a second cutter breakage signal simultaneously and determine the occurrence of a cutter breakage and shut down the CNC machine tool immediately to improve the determination speed and accuracy, so as to avoid unnecessary shutdowns or hindering the manufacturing flow.

摘要: A device and method for detecting the presence or absence of an object which has repetitive motion are disclosed comprising, a receiver for receiving a signal from the object, and circuitry for determining the presence or absence of the object to be detected, wherein the circuitry records the signal from the receiver as a pattern of data during at least part of the repetitive motion of the object, compares the data with a previously recorded data pattern and, produces an output signal based on the comparison. The signal may be received during discrete time intervals, and may be light which can be transmitted with varying intensity. The circuitry may determine the value of signal received at a receiver and produce a binary value. The signal received at the receiver can be reflected from the object to be detected.
